So I took this light bar off my ram (52inch curved). And when I hold it up to the x it looks just as wide as the truck lol. Should I just get a smaller light bar or custom make brackets for the one I have?

Unless your objective is to look like the Millennium Falcon is mounted on your roof, then sell it and get a 40" like @JeffPro4x said

40 to 42 max is best. anything bigger just doesn't fit.

Ok I got a 42 straight led bar. I’ve tried finding brackets for it but the only ones I can find are for a 42 curved

Yes, for a 40”....... you might be able to bend them to accommodate a 42”.

Offroad Gorilla originally advertised their brackets to hold 38-42 inch bars. A slight bit of ingenuity might be required. I'm happy to see you went with straight as the curved seem to produce a lot more wind noise. Not that the straight doesn't.... Just part of it....
