Hey Guys this is my Xterra’s thread I’m currently still in high school and this is my first car!
I always wanted something like a Z but my insurance would be through the roof so I settled on the X and haven’t regretted

More backstory:
Car was bought 4/30 from copart (salvage auction) and was wrecked in the front and didn’t look like too much damage and was everything i wanted on an Xterra except it wasn’t green but was too nice to give up
Car was bought and fixed for much cheaper then market value!
It was also well maintained and had a mint interior for its age and didn’t have too high of miles so it’s the perfect first car imo

Next thing on the agenda is
Gobi ladder and bully dog 40417 (being ordered mid October)
And I’m gonna get an awning a little before thanks giving
I’ve been having some more low rpm vibration after the lift so I have to look into that plus I think my front might be higher then the rear so maybe my helper springs will help that.View attachment 19807View attachment 19808View attachment 19809View attachment 19810View attachment 19811View attachment 19812
I told you to send me the credit card. You'd have spent way less money!

Seriously though, that X looks great. Nice job.

I want one of the new black/red Nissan badges from the new Frontier to replace my burger on the back.
Those look really nice imo and plenty of cheap ones on eBay I kinda want to keep the chrome ones for the oem look but will probably change my mind later on hahaha

I used a heat gun, which was pretty easy and now looks good, although some of the plastic like the rear center piece under the step and the front grille does not respond to the heat that way. If you use a torch be careful of the paint, use a metal shield or something to avoid burning the clearcoat & pain near the edge of the plastic

Right after I got this I saw a standard gobi and was gonna buy that but the guy flaked on me but I’m still impressed with this one!

I also might throw a 1 or 2 gal rotopax on it If I see one locally for cheap

I can confirm that the Gobi ladder plus a 2 gallon filled is too much for the hatch struts. And that if you go up to 200lb struts that’s too much for the strut brackets and mine snapped off within a week. Might be able to get away with 175lb and a 1-gallon if you help it open.

Does it stay open with the 175 or does it sag?
It stayed open, but not quite all the way up and I had to help push it to get to that point. I worried that if it did that when the struts were brand new in warm weather I was going to have a problem in winter and down the road.

If you’re just going to bolt to the ladder you’re probably alright trying it out, because I doubt every set of struts is exactly the same. In my case I found all this out after drilling holes through the hatch.

Went through 2 trails yesterday in north Ga and didn’t encounter any issues except scraping my rear end but no no major damage except some worn off paint.
Definitely surprised how well it handled, I’ve always heard of good things but was really happy since I got everywhere a Ford Raptor got.

Me and another Xterra! His was stock except wheels and the lights.
The hood ditch lights definitely looked helpful so I’m gonna pick some up in the near future as I save for a diff cover and awning!

Well I might have mentioned a leaky diff and I had forgotten about it until half the trail was done and remembered about it last night so I left the car parked in the garage all day where I was met with a puddle of water under the diff. I promptly drained it and will let it drain overnight and will refill it tomorrow after I get a fill pump thing and then will do the same on Saturday I was thinking of removing the cover and hitting it with brake clean but since I got it early and am changing the fluid twice there should be no water in there or so I’m told. I’ll definitely stay away from trails until my new diff cover hahaha

I threw in the diff fluid and no problems and the original wasn’t bad either so I’m holding off on the second change till a new cover
Hope ever had a great thanksgiving though no other mods planned except helper springs in a few days

also note how clean it is in that picture lol I gotta wash it on Tuesday hahaha

Long time since I’ve updated
Turns out the diff cover flange was bent and I had to wait 3 months from off road warehouse but ended up going to z1 for a new one and it’s sick!

I’ve got a ram phone mount that just came in that I’ll update on
Also Currently looking at lift options for the future and sliders
