I saw one of these in person the other day (rare around these parts) and really started to think about the possibility of making that my next mild build platform. I liked it a lot. I know it's bigger than the 2nd Gen X, but does it feel roomier? And I think I saw that it's body on frame, is that accurate?

Yes. It is body on frame. It definitely feels roomier and higher quality than a 2nd Gen X in my opinion. But it doesn't feel big when you're out driving around. If you were going to build one, it should be relatively easy to put a solid axle under the rear and TS the front.

Whoa there, fella. I said mild build and you suggest a Titan swap?! Baby steps. I'm talking slight suspension lift, all-terrain tires, and maybe a bumper.

I just found the "Nissan Path" site with everything I was wondering. Who knew the internet could be full of useful information?

The only decent suspension lift for it is the Calmini 5". And it uses drop brackets front and rear. No thanks.

So yeah, a 226 out back and TS the front.

The Nissan Path site is worthless unless you have one of the unibody 13+ models. Nobody has updated anything for the N51 in a long time.

You and I think the same... I would love to full Titan swap mine and put it on 35's.. It would be a bad ass trail rig...

Mrs Grandpa X just bought a Nismo Juke and handed the keys to her R51 with 220K over to me.... hmmm What to do...

However this rig is going exactly the other direction from what you would think from Gramps... 20's and lowering springs on the way!

Sorry if this is jacking your thread...

Being there are enough wheelers around this house... this may be the ticket.

Ordered exterior LEDs for everything but the turn signals. Need to get resistors and everything. Then I'll do those.

I need to do this with the Volvo... I may get creative with the interior.. :)<

Too many dang festoon bulbs that I don't know the exact size of haha

But....... But...... No!

A guy could sas one of these with a set of JK Rubicon axles... However with everything so automated it really doesn't work out as well as the WD21/22's.

A Titan swap on a V8 Pathy may be kinda sweet... have the power to actually go fast in the sand. Maybe an Armada swap (front/rear) would be the ticket.

Hmm, some of those iceland fender flares.

OK somebody, get on this! I have enough crazy long term projects.

Lol! Yeah. An Armada swap would be pretty cool. I think I'd still miss the solid axle out back.

And I wouldn't want to SAS the front. The Titan swap is plenty capable.

If it wasn't for the front diff's nuking.... every year the folks at Moab witness this. But ya I agree, the performance gained by sasing the system isn't worth the headaches gained on the newer rigs.

Just put a set of 3157 LEDs in the tail lights of the truck. It's so much better than incandescents that it almost makes me mad that I waited this long.

Despite what the CCD in my phone is trying to tell your brain, that bright yellow light was the old stock reverse lights.

The rear visibility is about 70% better and almost looks like daylight through the rear view camera. These 6k reverse lights have come a long way.

I was never a fan of mine but it was probably crappy. Limbs would knock it over and the magnet started rusting a bit and left rust stains on the roof. But like I said, it was given to me so it was probably crappy haha

Problem is that there is nowhere on the roof of the truck that's flat and large enough for the base.

Same as the 2nd Gen Xterra. Too many lines up top for a magnet mount. I finally went to a rack mount after picking up my antenna every five minutes on the trail.

Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. What mount did you use?

Xoskel used to make mounts, and I somehow got lucky enough to get one of those before he went off of the deep end. It is basically a u-bolt with a T shaped bracket on it. I think the Pathfinder rack is a parallelogram but you could certainly use the same premise to get you a CB in there.

Where to mount a CB antenna on an R51. Hrmm.

Problem with the regular door jamb mount that everyone uses is twofold. 1) it sticks out past the side of the truck. 2) The mounting screws are parallel to the primary direction of stress. So every time the antenna pushes backward, the screws try to pull out of the metal.

So I thought, here's a flat surface on the roof rack that would make the mounting screws perpendicular to the direction of motion. Problem. It's plastic. So not stable and won't pass the antenna ground to body of the truck.

Solution? Fabricate a metal bracket that will reinforce the mount & pass the ground down to the body.

Here's the photo dump of how I did it.
