Finally got to get away on a trip last weekend. Expeditionutah did their annual freeze your tail off run to the Sun Tunnels for the winter Equinox.
Over 20 rigs in our group and a bunch more showed up sat night.
Traveled across the transcontinental railroad route after meeting up at promontory at the golden spike museum. Made our way to the NV border by Lucin to camp.
Then returned the next day, paralleling the NV border to wendover UT meeting pavement again by the bonneville salt flats speedway.

Getting dark. Where we're camping for the night.

The "sun tunnels" by artist Nancy Holt that align with winter and summer Equinox and other celestial events. (Google it up)

Back on pavement at wendover Ut right by the salt flats speedway for much needed fuel and window cleaning.

Couple hour trip home from here.
Yes, I was the only nissan in the group[emoji1]

As always, I am insanely jealous of your wheeling adventures and your front bumper. I still get regular compliments on the rear bumper you built me a couple of years ago. Thanks, Maxterra! And keep the pictures coming!

UXOC (Utah Xterra Owners Club) just completed our annual Pony Express Run, following the original Pony Express route from Utah county out across the barren and very remote west desert to Nevada and them back.

From where I live in Northern Utah, down to the meeting point in Lehi, out to Nevada and then to Wendover NV for dinner, Home on I-80/I-15 is about 430 miles and a 16 hour day.
Very enjoyable and fun run though. Not extremely technical or tough, but some fast, high speed desert running and a lot of interesting stops and scenic locations.
Not a place to break down, run out of fuel or crash, as you're away from most any civilization or services or contact.
Typically barely make it into Wendover on fuel, but did a little better this time for some reason.

Meeting point to top off for fuel in the morning in Lehi. Awesome clouds hugging the mountains.

Stopping past the Faust station to air down tires. Snowing and cold all around.

Lookout Pass station

Across the desert, running tailgunner. Leave nobody behind!

Quite a few sheep herds out there, and the dogs hang out with them.
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS" (at least until I stop you, sniff, bark & bite at each vehicle).

Stopping at the Simpson Springs station, where there's a reconstructed rock building, picnic area, and rare and coveted bathroom

Looking off of Dugway pass, from whence we came.

On top of the pass for a photo op.

Stopping at the Fish Springs wildlife refuge. Natural springs out in the middle of nowhere and miles of ponds for waterfowl.

While there, a golden eagle flew in for a visit.

On down the road to some thermal hot springs.

Hot Spings out in front of us (steam)

Took a pretty cool pic of Kuma's beautiful rig

Up the mountain to Utah Mine

Another photo shoot from the mountain

Back down the switchbacks.
Went to go over to another trail, but like every trip out here and others, closed off!

By the ruins of another pony express station at overland canyon.

Stopping at Gold Hill, UT. Still a few people living out here, though I've never yet seen anybody about in all the years I've been out there ???

Doubtful the old mercantile building will last much longer, as it's really deteriorating now, Sad!

Out near Ibapah road to air up for the drive on pavement to Wendover for dinner!

Great trip with some great friends, both old and new!

Oh, and the titan swap still rocks! Such an improved ride compared to before, even with that improved suspension I ran.:headbang:

You guys crack me up!
Got another trip planned over 4 days on apr 10 with expeditionutah group covering central Utah ghost towns and mines.
About 600 mile trip with close to 400 off road on the gas we carry (hence the new bumper build I just did for me).
Quite excited for it to happen.

Then it's GONE moab after that!
