Hello Xterra Nation, I’ve been looking for a bushing for my 2004 3.3l manual shifter stick.

Bought the truck a Couple months ago and the looseness of the shifter stick has been been bugging me. My old 04 xterra (rwd i4) had a very stiff shifter so I’m not sure if it’s just the engine/transmission that is different.

I pulled out the stick and replaced the knob bushing at the end but was confused as of how you remove the middle bushing because theres the metal big ball that the stick pivots around preventing it from sliding off.

I also have not been able to find the center bushing anywhere online. It seems to be the source of the looseness so if anyone has any input please add on to the thread. its got me stumped.79ABA4F0-12BB-4770-8B91-4CE2DD91E4CA.jpeg

Did you take the knob off and slide that bearing UP toward the handle? Do you have the FSM for your X?

Hey kirk, I don’t have a FSM so I appreciate you sending over the pdf.
it looks like you’re right, I have to slide it upwards, I think I was just running into an issue of the rubber seal and insulation being in the way.
I’ll have to still find the piece I’m looking for before I take it out again.

The piece circled is what I believe is needed:
