Loss of power question.

So…
Every thing is running fine in my 2010 off-road ( 92k miles ).
Yesterday pulling away from a stop light I instantly have no ability to go more than 2 miles an hour. Engine doesn’t rev.
The ABS and SLIP light are on. I limp into a parking lot and call AAA for a tow home.
Truck doesn’t restart.
Im guessing throttle or cam position switch. ( I’m no mechanic, just a hammer and nail guy and mine is on vacation till next week )
Does this sound familiar to anyone ?

Sounds like a crank position sensor. Could be cam but it's more likely the ECM doesn't see the engine turning. Only get Hitachi or Nissan parts for cam and crank sensors. Aftermarket parts have been known to be bad out of the box.

Again I’m not mechanically inclined, but read well.
The ABS and SLIP lights were on. Would the brake position switch be a place to check also ?
Odd how it doesn’t restart too. Hopefully when my mechanic guru is back next week it’s not a BIG deal.

No. Those are on because the system is disabled.

Turns out it was my alternator that failed plus dead battery.
Odd how I had no indication of either issue.
It’s always something. Hopefully the X isn’t a moneypit
Did they say specifically how it failed? If be interested to know since you say you didn't have any indication. Usually you'll get a low reading gauge or the little battery light will illuminate.

I asked my mechanic and he couldn’t really give me an answer why. I’ll dig a little deeper with him, I’m curious myself. The voltmeter gauge never gave me a hint of anything wrong and it always started instantly.
Things that make you go hmmmm…..

Talked to my mechanic again today about the no indications of alternator/battery problems about to happen.
He said no codes of cam or crank sensors were indicated. Sometimes shiat just happens. All is running well but for a few weeks I won’t be straying too far. Just in case.

Thanks for the update, all too often I'm searching the interwebs and never get an answer because the thread starter doesn't follow up!
I work in maintenance manufacturing and unfortunately there often isn't an answer when technology and electrics are involved...
