Anyone have any idea what the cost would be for a mechanic to replace the lifters on my 2007 Xterra? Cant do it myself. No place for it.

Knightrider....I have the constant clatter from the engine. When I first start up, its loud for like 5 seconds then goes away, but I hear a faint clatter from the engine. Especially when I give it hard acceleration. Taking to dealer for oil/filter change, not a small mechanic. So HOPING its just not the correct oil. HA!! Oil pressure gauge shows fine. But going to have them check the health of the engine. I want to be prepared for the cost. Ive started using 89 octane to see how that goes.

By the way. . when its really cold, if I don't let truck warm up, its a loud clatter for a few miles.

Could be trash built up on the lifters. I had that prob on my 1st gen.

I'm actually taking mine in tomorrow for new lifters. Replacing all 12 for $600. Mine sounds like sewing machine all the time but has a different knock that comes and goes.
