So I started dabbling in building knives. I don't have a forge, or the necessary space to set up a proper shop, so I'm relegated to building off of kits and blade blanks, but it's addictive. I recently finished a skinning knife I plan to use this autumn during hunting season. I'll try to nab some photos this evening.

So here is my first knfie made from the Midwest Skinner kit from Knifekits.com. I used bloodwood and ebony on the handle with red and black G10 and brase tube and pin for the hardware. I made the bushcraft style sheath as well to carry my Streamlight Microstream. This will be handy come antelope and deer season later this year. Knife is dusty....

When I go hunting I also bring my Kershaw Camp 10 kukri, and Mora Kansbol. I use them both when field dressing game. The big Camp 10 is great for big joints, ligaments, and separating the head from the neck, while the Kansbol is excellent for finer cutting. I also use one of those folding game processing knives that has the replaceable blades.

Nice. For the price you can't beat the Mora knives. I just got another one to leave on the boat.

So the monthly splurge happened and I picked up the Kershaw Leek, one I've been wanting awhile cause it's light and skinny. I love the speedsafe action by Ken and the blade. Super fast one finger open/close and lock up. Only complaint is it doesn't come with a deep carry clip. At 55$ usd I feel it's priced about right.20220711_163700.jpg20220711_164326.jpg

Good teeth on that ant.

Bandage was tight enough to stop the bleeding. Rebandaged so the finger is pink again.

Try to find some super glue at work tomorrow for a good closure and the use of my finger back vs it taped up like this.

Damned meat suit.... always leaking something.
Thats a good one. I would definitely consider super glue( derma bond) or a steri strip. Just to approximate the wound. But thats me

Wrap it like the knife handle .
It has the added benefit of holding the middle finger up while driving !! ;)

Got some Loctite 404 and coated it at work. Should be good to go now.

Gonna keep it bandaged for a few days to keep it clean.
Did you finger fall off yet?. and replace the digit with a mini Blade.

Now your blade drew blood. Should be given a proper Name. It's almost a killer blade! Almost, Finger ain't healed up you yet.. Just keep them little white/ Rice looking worms off it.. ;-)

But, there's knives out there that need a good home. They're just sitting there in boxes or in display cases in stores, weeping a sheen of oil, just begging to be taken home.
