Been looking into ESEE knives recently. I like a good fixed blade knife and I'm thinking about one of their Izula-II knives for around camp.

I like my Benchmade Bushcrafter but it's a little heavy for fine work like feather sticks or cooking. I'm currently carrying a Mora in stainless in my roof net for that kinda stuff but the gear hound has an itch for a new slicy thing...

the Izula is one of their most common knives. My only recommendation is to buy from a reputable dealer. There are some forgeries out there.

I also have from them a Esee 4 and a Lazer strike. Love all of them. I also love their no questions asked lifetime warranty

Well let's see , my Dad gave me his 15 year old set of Wusthof knives for the kitchen and they are bad to the bone , literally :D We alway's kept Dexter-Russel sani safe knives on the boat's , their priced well and made of good stainless . Considering they spend there entire life on a boat and in the fish cleaning shed's of 99% of the people I know ; that should tell you something. I do have a Bubba Blade and it's a good all around knife edge wise.

I recently picked up a Civivi Elementum after watching Best Damn EDC on Youtube. Not much time with it so far but it does appear to be a good quality pocket knife at just $50.

@TheCrabby1 I bought my wife a Wusthof kitchen set while we were in Germany over 20yrs ago and they are still going strong. This last Christmas she was asking for another 8" Chef's knife so I ended up getting her this.

This is the ESEE-6 I got to keep in the truck back in 2015;

ESEE-6

ESEE-6+in+truck

(Pictured when new) It’s 11.75" overall. 5.75" venom green powder coated 1095HC steel blade. Orange G10 Micarta handle. ...kind a hard to lose in the woods.

Full, extended tang. Lanyard hole. Black molded plastic sheath with clip plate attachment.

I’ve used it to slice steak at a tailgate, cut nylon straps, chop kindling, cut O gauge insulated copper wire, etc. I’ve never worried about it chipping or breaking. Although it looks a bit beat up now it has taken the abuse and keeps on going holding an edge well.

ESEE still makes a knife with similar specs but I can’t find the loud colors.

It’s larger than what you were looking however I also carry a little 5” ESEE CANDIRU on my pack.

ESEE+Candiru

It is very similar to the IZULA you’re looking at, smaller. It doesn't get as much use as my 6 but comes in handy now and then.

IMHO ESEE makes a great product and I still feel that both knifes were (are) a great investment…I love them.

In my Xterra I have a Kershaw Camp 10 kukri, Mora Companion and Moral Kansbol at all times. 2 is one and 1 is none lol. I've used the Camp 10 to process a lot of firewood and the Moras make great feather sticks for getting a fire going. Most Mora blades are easy to put a scary sharp edge on, and for the most part they are cheap enough that if you break or lose one, it's not too big of a deal.

I've looked at the 5 and 6 but I think they are a bit bigger than I want. I always have an axe and bow saw under the seat so I don't need a knife to baton fire wood or anything.

My Bushcrafter isn't that big and it's still a little bigger than what I'm looking for for a camp knife. The Mora Companion is about right but I'm just feeling like I would enjoy an ESEE.

I love my Moras. I have one Carbon Companion that stays in my pack, one stainless that stays in my roof rack and a second stainless that I randomly carry around the house when I'm doing yard work.

Really contemplating what new knife to buy for this next deployment. There won’t be any possibilities for me to get off base or to do some of the touristy things like when I was in Ukraine. There is supposed to be an American PX there and that’s about it.

Traded my Orange M390 Grip-enstein for a ESEE 4CP with the clip point with the Artimus Kydex sheath. I think I'm going to like it pretty good but I'm going to have to get used to the clip point.

Overall blade length is 4.5"

Handles are OE black micarta.

That is 1/2 inch longer than my current inexpensive 4" skinning blade by Frost (Swedish). Bet the grip is excellent. Hmm....

Right. I knew it was a good knife. MSRP: from $190.64 (real dollars...)

Oh man. So tempting but if I buy, it will just a few weeks or months before I lose it.

So does anyone know of a Ball baring/axis lock type folder similar to the Benchmade griptilian but maybe not so expensive (under 100 bucks)? I really like Spyderco Manix and Benchmade Bugout but not really looking to spend 200 on another pocket knife... I love the lock and the blade of the griptilian but the plastic scales make it kinda thick and it feels kinda cheap :/ probably should have just sprung for the G10 when I got it I guess.

Traded my 4CP for this CR2.5.

Been playing with it some this evening. I really like the feel of it and after a little touch up on my stone and strop it's really nice.

The pouch wears nicely and it's easy to draw. I think this will make a very nice camp knife. I'll probably stick to my RB3 and one of the kids or maybe the wife will carry this one.

Man, I really like all of these ESEE blades...

Me too! I'm really loving the RB3. This CR2.5 will be a nice size too. I've been playing around with it a little today. I think i'm going to get my fero rod out in a bit and see how it does with it.
