You haven’t heard canada’s Yet either. Plus. The government just passed a law that will only affect legal gun owners making it harder for people to buy a firearm
We can own just about anything besides a balisticknife. The thing is they way they worded the law and ordinances that they follow we could be charged for carrying a sharpened #2 pencil. Then they went and let each municipality create their own ordnances on what legal to carry so being legal in every county is basically impossible oh and thanks to the wording you can't legally carry a knife concealed.

I saw a picture of the Kershaw Rogue on Bookface and got a little excited for a second. Thinking I just found my new EDC blade. Then I found out it was an Auto blade. And with that disappointment, I continue my search for a new knife

Are you allowed assisted or does it have to be fully manual?

This one was originally my grandfather’s and came to me when he passed. I just got it back from benchmade for a clean/sharpen/adjust on their lifesharp program. 1 of 200 made for their benchmite series. Damasteel blade, titanium handle/parts. Very very light and now again sharp as ufck.

Has some wear as of course it's a tool and my grandfather used it as such. Didn't care that it was 1 of 200. He just wanted a good sharp, light, little knife. haha.

Small for my tastes, but man what a story. Very cool.

Oh yeah! Developed a thing for Benchmade knives recently but it was a Kershaw Ken Onion Blur S30V that really got me into nice knives. Before that I carried a Klein hawk bill that they issued me at work that you could almost slice off a pad of butter with before it got dull.

Having some issues with image hosting ATM so I'll just list them.

My first Benchmade was a Bushcrafter in S30V. Not an easy purchase but I fell in love with it in my hand and had to have it.

Next came a North Fork in S30V for a nicer pocket knife to carry on date nights or to church or when we go to town occasionally.

Then a guy at work scored a Freek in, you guessed it, S30V for stupid cheap and I told him I'd give him his money back if he ever decided to part with it. Not long ago, he priced it to me with a deep carry clip and I snapped it up in a hurry.

Then a buddy who's further down the rabbit hole than I am pieced together his ideal Griptilian and assembled the left overs and made me a decent deal in it. It's orange scales with a M390 blade (which is so hard my Arkansas stone will just polish it) and I carry it with a 550 cord lanyard when I'm off-road or outdoors because it's so easy to see.

Team Benchmade here.

Bought my first one (model 10300, far left in above photos) about 16 years ago and it's been my EDC ever since. Liked it so much I bought a 2nd one, but with straight blade (no serrations).

Pros: All metal, removable pocket clip, extremely solid blade lock, easy one-hand open & close, heavy (I don't like lightweight knives).

Cons: Uh, they're discontinued so they're hard to find?

Next was a model 530, the one with the black handle. I reserve its use for food only - it's the knife I bring to work when I'll need to cut my food, and I use it to cook when I camp.

0801190815a.jpg

Pros: Very solid blade lock, one-hand open and close (not as easy as the 10300), sharp, thin blade makes it easy to use as a cooking knife (think of a folding paring knife).

Cons: The handle (I think it's G10 fiberglass resin) is very lightweight. Again, I'm not a big fan of lightweight knives. Blade lock is a little clumsy with one hand as you need to slide it back with finger and thumb (from both sides of the body).

For Christmas my brother-in-law gave me a Buck 750 (yellow and gray in the pic). I haven't used it yet, and hate to say it but just from holding it and "playing" around with it; I'm not a fan.

Pros: Bright color means I won't lose it? Blade seems strong. Firm blade lock.

Cons: Clumsy blade lock, lots of plastic and rubber. The rubber grip would be nice in wet conditions, but it also makes it difficult to remove from my pocket because it grips the fabric. I also expect the rubber to peel off/get gummy as the knife ages.

I just carry my SOG Night Vision. Everywhere... all the time.... Never even thought about it being illegal anywhere.

I’m same way with my knives. Whenever I fly, my wife has to constantly remind me to either leave everything at home or put it in checked baggage.

I’ve driven all over east coast for pleasure and work though and then it never crosses my mind.

Funny you mention that. I was going to mention my recent habit-forming trips to a monthly state auction type thing. I pickup lots of CKRT, Gerber, leatherman, etc for a buck or 3 each. Nothing all that special. Clean em up, sharpen if needed, keep a few but give away most. They were all gifts to the TSA...

I do a real good check of all the pockets and backpack before I need to go drop off my bags at the airport. That way I am normally good to go before crossing g security.

I have two SOG knives one in the lunch kit for work, the other travels in the X. Used the X one primarily for camping. Quite happy with the SOG, stays really sharp.
I have a SOG seal pup that was made in Seki Japan. That thing was great. Used it when I was working in ships with the navy, had it on my deployment to Haiti and Afghanistan. Now it sits in my knife locker to not loose it. The new ones made in China suck

Whoa! How do you find out about those auctions? Do all airports do something like that?

Like the best things in life... 100% dumb luck. ;)

My wife was in a competition at a gym down in the capital, I got bored and wandered around outside, the building out back happened to be where they run it, and it happened to be during the 4 hour per month window they are open to the public. Once you know it exists it's easy to figure out when they'll do the next one.

I don't know how other states do things, but I suspect all the really good stuff gets picked up by the insiders before they open the doors to us plebs. I picked up a nice big magnetic white board for her home gym for $1. And a nice old broken oak chair for $2, which I plan to turn into scales for the knives I make anyway.

Keep talking?

Ha! I wish I had anything worth saying. I still pretty much suck at heat treat. But it's fun. My brother built a forge at the barn where I do my maintenance work. He got me into watching youtube videos and forged in fire. Maybe in a few more months I'll have something worth showing.

Awesome. Assuming fixed blade since you’re just getting started. I’d be interested in seeing once you get started. shiat, I’d even be your first customer if you get into selling. Can never have too many knives.

TSA confiscations get dumped at what amounts to a state run monthly yard sale. If I happen to be so far from home on the right day I'll stop in and see what they have on the table, pick up a few decent pocket knives for peanuts. Then just give most of em away.
