LED 40" Light bar mounted on roof?

Ok, so I have a 2012 PRO-4X with the factory off road lights on the roof, and I was thinking about mounting a 40" LED light bar on the roof along with the factory lights. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this, and where they mounted it. Like did they mount it on the factory roof rack? Or did they mount it right over the top of the windshield? I think mounting it right over the windshield might be ideal, but I have a feeling it might get in te way of the factory roof lights. So I would enjoy any suggestions on where the ideal place to mount it would be.

I have my LED lights where the 2nd gen roof lights would be, and I can say there is somewhat of a glare on the window. I wouldn't put it any lower than where I have it really beaming down on your windshield. I've seen some people have it like above the truck. Like where you would put long distance lights.

The biggest issue with any lights up there that are not set back far enough is the glare on the windshield. I need to make some glare shields for my lights for this very reason. The bad thing about a pre-4x. Which I have is to mount a 40" up there it is almost best to remove the factory lights.

The 40â€￾ light bar will render those factory lights useless. Maybe you would use the factory lights when you don't need crazy, UFO lighting. I realize that unless you replace the roof rack or roof dam you just have to go with both. You may need a custom mount to put the light bar in a place that doesn't interfere with the factory lights. Perhaps a single row LED bar that can sit low to the roof line below the factory lights.

Ya, I didn't really think about the large amount of glare the 40" would cause. I saw some pictures of people mounting a small light bar between the factory lights, and that sounds like a better idea now. If anyone has done this, do you know what size would fit between them?

I am one of these people. You can click on my build thread and see it. The largest is a 12". If I was going to do it all over again. Since LEDs are way cheaper then they were 2 years ago. I would wait for a factory air damn without the mickey mouse ears to pop up on here or the other forums. It happens when someone upgrades there roof rack. Then I would get that and mount a 40" up there. I have a 12" and it glares like no other. The factory one's also glare. So unless you paint your hood and build glare shields or set them back behind the the hole wind shield up there at the front of the roof basket.

I would get rid of the Micky Mouse ears and trade w/ someone who has the stock rack. I've got a 40" Totron LED bar and the hood glare IMO isn't that bad. It also depends on how you have it aimed. Here's a comparison. The hood glare wasn't unbearable at all. I did have my hood Plastidipped but since removed it. I need to do it again but as you can see, it really isn't bad.

I want one of these so bad. Just need to justify it to the wife haha. Alrdy came up with a reason for the light bar in the bumper mouth. Also, I do not feel like spending 300-400 on a lightbar. But hopefully a GB comes around for these.
