alright this might sound real weird but I have a 2000 Xterra se and my check engine light comes on and i hook the reader up to it and it tells me that it is the knock sensor. I will drive a couple of hundred miles and the light will go off for a while and then come back on. maybe someone can give me some insight on what to do.

You need to have the code read when the CEL is ON, first.

The Knock Sensor (as previously stated) will remain on the ECU, but it won't trip the CEL. If it's intermittent like that, my guess is that the O2 sensors are gummed up, then it burns itself clean. My Pathfinder did that all the time.

BUT, can't help you much until you can get the code read with the CEL on. I guarantee you that 98% of the Gen 1-1.5s on here will have the Knock Sensor code. It's just a VG33 thing.

ok my "knock Sensor" p0325 i believe code came on but its with p1447 which is related to the EVAP system. I had this when i first got the truck and it was for the gas cap. Do i reset it after doing the cap see if the p0325 comes back on or fix it?

KS is a waste of time.. I wouldn't spend what it will cost to fix it.. The KS will not throw a check engine.. The evap I bet is based on your bodylift. There is a hose behind the passenger side front tire that can crack after the lift.

aww! ok ya i was reading it wasn't worth it. ill check the hoses right now. the canister and everything under the spare compartment looked fine. but hey im not a mechanic could have missed something. the code was 1447 though so, i just thought it was my gas cap again.

A cheap resister can take the place of the knock sensor. I spent more on the shrink wrap than I did on the resister, and it is all done from above without taking anything appart, other than two wires.
