Resurrecting this bish.

So, I've never owned a yak, but have always rented one... Probably enough that the cost has added up to the cost of one.
Always gone with a sit in and love it.

This past Saturday, I went on a 7mi yak fishing trip with my buddy in his extra Asend FS10T. Always wet and cold... I knew there was a reason for going with a sit in. Had fun though.

My question is, do y'all prefer SoT for fishing or sit in?

Really liking the Kilroy by Jackson. As seen in the following link. It cost more than the FS12 at Bass Pro, but it is similar to what I've been wanting.

Pro-4Xtreme, you mentioned trading in the Asend FS12 for the FS128T. Which do you like best and would you still recommend the FS12?

The fs12 was nice. Easy to paddle and tracked well. Depends on where you live and how big of fish your going after. I traded for the sot because I live near the coast and they are more stable if you hook a big one. If it pulls you to the side you just lean against it and your bow will turn towards the fish. With a sit in you have a better chance of rolling especially if you get broadsided by a wave. And rolling a yak with a shark on the line is no bueno. The sot I'd heavier and a little tougher to paddle. At least the one I have is.

I plan on paddling all different bodies of water. I love river and coastal the most.

Would you say the width is what makes it harder to paddle?

My friend just purchased the FS128T, but hasn't been on the water yet.

That's the same one I have. The width and hull design isn't really made for speed it's for stability. It's also heavy, almost 100lbs by itself. Then with me and all my gear ( 3 or 4 poles, tackle, cooler, fish finder with battery, ect) it's probably about 350lbs that you have to paddle. It's not going to kill you but it gets tough fighting the current. A longer paddle helps with the sot kayak as well.

I got a Kilroy and love it. Super stable to stand and fish in the river. Lots of room for gear and the four rod storage tubes are awesome. I had the ascend FS10 sit in for 2+ years, can't stand in it but its been a good boat.

The Kilroy is a awesome looking yak.

I'm between the FeelFree Lure 11.5 and Moken 12.5.

I fished with a guy yesterday in a Lure 11.5. That thing has more space on board than I thought it did. The Coosa is just too short for what I want to do.

I've got my "ultimate" boat narrowed down to either the Lure 115 or the Ride 115.

Finally upgraded to a pedal kayak (Old Town Salty 120 PDL) and I really, really wish I’d done it sooner. Incredibly fast and stable. I can stand up and fish in it (in the river at least - probably not with waves), and I can maintain an easy 5mph without wearing myself out.

My previous was a Pelican Catch 120 - also fairly stable but moved like a barge.
