Today I found a guy on Instagram who has a small machine shop, he shared a pic of an awesome little Jerry can he made, asking if it would be worth it to make more. It struck me as an awesome little piece that could have a bunch of uses...keychain, zipper pull, rearview mirror dangler...hell, wear it around your neck, whatever.

I started a conversation with him and explained what we're all about here at XN and he said he'd be willing to do a small run of 10 pieces for now. I would add a small weave of 550 paracord to each. All proceeds would go to him. His asking price is $30 each, I won't add cost for the paracord and I imagine shipping would be just a couple bucks.

    Who's interested?

So, I started typing this up way before he gave me his price, which is...high. My excitement faded fast but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.

Anybody? Feel free to say eff off, $30 is steep, I know.

It's cool! But $30 is a lot of beer.

    This can be forgotten.

I spoke with the guy, I didn't get into how $30 was just way too much money, I just said that there was no interest and left it at that. He was cool with it, and decided to send me a freebie anyway.

After handling it first-hand, I can see that the quality isn't what one would expect for a CNC machined item, be it a keychain, a winch fairlead, a lightbar bracket or a shift knob. There were sharp edges left on some areas, and obvious miscuts in the details. Maybe I only noticed these things because I'm a machinist myself, but even if he only wanted $5 each I don't think it would have been fair. They're also only one-sided! The back is just a flat pane of aluminum.

He included about 3 1/2 feet of black paracord which was a nice touch, but after seeing the product myself I'm really glad the price was so high, because it kept all you guys from getting in on this - therefore keeping you all from getting a subpar product and feeling sh*tty about it.
