Found an '07 Off-Road for $11.5k. I know next to nothing about this stuff so any thoughts on ways forward would be awesome. Live in San Diego. Would like to start some easy to moderate trails. This is almost at the top of my budget for just a fun vehicle to trail ride in from time to time. Thx all!

I'd ask the question as to why the engine/trans was swapped. I assume it is an auto and had SMOD. Though that doesn't lean to swapping the engine. I see some 09+ cosmetic mods on the outside.

What are the total miles on the clock?

I have an 07 O/R. It has almost 170 on the clock. I can speak to the reliability of the power train. As others here can.

My main concerns here are about price & workmanship. Is it an auto? Was SMOD the reason for the swap? Does it have 400k on the odometer? Who did the swap? Can they produce receipts for it or was it done in someone's back yard?

I know everything is more expensive in CA. Trust me, Denver isn't far off.

But. My truck is full titan swapped front and rear. Engine/trans/T-Case are original. If I could get 11.5k I'd be half tempted to sign it over (as long as I could unicorn in exchange). For the age/mileage, realistically, it's an 8K truck here.

There's been some work done. It has a winch. But I just can't see half way to 12k.
