Ironman Leaf Springs (Constant Load)

I purchased a stage 2 Foam Cell Pro lift from Ironman last fall and was like a little kid waiting for an amazing Christmas present while my order was being put together.

During the waiting period before receiving lift, I wanted to make sure I had my ducks in a row when it came to putting on the leaf springs. With the additional capacity of those constant load leaf’s, I wanted to make sure I didn’t stink bug the heck out of my X. Ideally, I would have ordered performance leafs instead of the constant load, but that wasn’t an option with that lift at the time.

To get this figured out I talked to Ironman way too many times with different configuration ideas for the leafs (which leafs should I pull). Ironman was great but wouldn’t go down the rabbit trail far enough with me. From there I consulted several leaf spring rate calculators online along with a local spring shop here in Omaha.

The leaf springs are monsters to begin with (7 leaf’s plus overload), so I decided to pull leaf number #5 (from the eyelets) and the overload. I couldn’t be happier with it. I ended up with just under 2” of lift in the back and with the pack still being 6 leaves, it is still plenty stiff. With the front coils lifting just over 2”, I’ve still got a little less than the factory rake.

This seems to be a very common question with these leaf springs, so hopefully this will save someone time and energy when they go to install this lift in the future.

Thanks for posting this. Good info. Bookmarked.

I can add that I took off only the overload with rear tire carrier bumper, skids, sliders, etc and have at least 2” lift still with a great ride.
