For my '10 xterra. What do you guys have other than the stock one? Would like Bluetooth and aux hookup in the front. Also what will I need to install it at home? Much appreciated!

Any double din that you like will work. Just make sure to go somewhere that you can play with the radios and see what you like. And then go online and get a better price.

For my money, I like Pioneer. Alway have.

Yup, it was me. I'm still enjoying it as is, but rooting is looking more and more attractive, just to be able to totally customize the home screen.

I have a Kenwood DDX-371 & love it. the aux is through the back... I just ran the wire around to center console. Can plug in anything thru aux, anything thru USB, and dock your ipod. DVD, Bluetooth phone, Bluetooth media, touch screen.

Just installed the same radio. Loving it so far

The DDX-371 or -471 is what I would have chosen if I'd decided not to gamble on the Android stereo. I installed a -371 in my brother-in-law's X-Runner, and it is a great sounding, feature packed stereo, especially at it's price point. I believe the -471 has hotter preamp voltage, which is the reason I was considering stepping up to it.

With the new stereo, I am pleasantly surpised with the sound quality of the RF amp and speakers. The head unit was definitely the weak point in that system.

I have a Kenwood DNX7190HD. Has nav, 2 inputs for cameras or game consoles. Video outputs and a usb input. It installs very clean. Replaced my rockford factory unit about 2 weeks after i got my truck brand new. I can take pics if you want.

I've got a standard system so I don't know how replacing mine would be in comparison. Pics are always welcome though. I'm looking, eventually, for something with Bluetooth, auxiliary, and usb at least. Everything on top of that would just be gravy. I would really just like something that is plug and play.

You can get any head unit that you want, does not have to be a double din. I went with a kenwood with bluetooth, AUX and usb on the front. Between my phone and flash drive I have about 90 hours of music, so I have not used the CD player for a couple of years.

If you go with crutchfield you can get everything you will need at one stop.

I will also say that the stock HU was the weak point in the RF system, but when I went to replace my speakers, all the speakers were labelled Clarion, so not some cheap paper cones on the RF system.

Are you talking about the Parrot Asteroid? How do you like it? I've been really looking into it. Problem is they just announced a new one to be released "Later 2015" , it looks freaking awesome, but I'm not sure I can wait. Codename RNB 6

No. I looked long and hard at the Asteroid Smart, but being limited to Android 2.3 and the Asteroid app market in addition to being $500, pushed me away. I decided to gamble on one of the non-branded Android 4.2 units that can be found on eBay.

More info in my build thread, linked in my signature.

I had a question about this. I too am looking to replace the stock radio in my 2012. i was wondering how that would work with the push button style A/C controls. The whole radio is behind a plastic cover.. obviously that would go, but how does it look after that's been removed and a new radio is installed.

In other words, does a new cover piece need to be ordered, or will the stock plastic cover that makes everything look flush, need to be modified?

If you're thinking of getting a double din, you'll need a dash kit. i ordered this one off amazon, looks flawless in the dash. don't have a photo of it off hand installed.

That may be what I wind up doing. Even if I didn't want a double din radio, it still doesn't look like I could change it out without this plastic cover being in the way. I posted a picture for refrence, my X is pretty barebones for an S. The only difference I can see from an X is fog lights and the air dam storage

yeah i'm 99% sure theres a dash kit for a single din as well. if you go on crutchfields website, put in your year make and model, and the radio you're interested in, it will recommend the dash kit and harness you need and you can buy it all there, or use the part numbers and buy them someplace else like amazon. the one i linked you to should work for double dins, mine looks great.

Im looking at double din units as well from Pioneer and Alpine, want nav and video capabilities, looking in the $500 range. I've been out of the audio game for so long that all the different units and features are almost confusing now so how do you guys choose what head unit you get? I want something nice but expandable as well as I want to wire in headrest units for the back seat passengers and a back-up camera.
