How to Install New Switch

Ok, I purchased a 20" light bar and wiring harness a while ago, but now the included switch is going out. So I purchased a new switch, http://www.amazon.com/Daystar-KU800...d=1409974021&sr=8-6&keywords=Light+bar+switch, but I can not figure out how to install it on my old wiring harness. If anyone could help me, that would be great?

Here is the current wiring harness I have installed:http://www.amazon.com/Road-Jeep-Light-Wiring-Harness/dp/B00D1CQVIY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

In the link to the wiring harness, in the pictures there is a wiring diagram for it.

I am also new to the forum, so I think I am posting this in the right place?

Hi,

First of all, welcome to Xterra Nation. Glad to have you. I hope you look around and decide to stay and hang out. Lots of good folk here.

Now, regarding your switch issue...

The switch itself has 3 blades (connectors) on the back. These will be for:
A. 12V power to the switch.
B. Output 12V to your relay or accessory.
C. Ground for the LED in the switch.
I don't know which blade is which. PM me if you need help figuring this out.

Now for the harness:
I found the wiring diagram you mention. Cut the wires where the blue "x"'s are.

Put 14 gauge blade connectors on the three cut wires. Then connect each wire to the appropriate blade on the Daystar switch like this:

Hopefully that makes sense. If you need more help let me know. Good luck!

I am guessing that you bought a SPST on/off with a dependent upper light. the amazon add doesn't specify exactly what it is. take a look at this PDF file, if the back of your switch matches up to the plades on the PDF that is how your going to want to match the wires of your harness http://www.otrattw.com/B60.pdf if that's not the right diagram take a pic of the back of your switch

Thanks for the help, I was able to figure it out with the diagram and a little common sense. But now the switch is hooked up and is working great! Now on to more mods!!

Looks good. IMO you might want to consider getting some lense covers for that light bar just to stop the sand blasting effect of driving around something like this is cheaper to replace then the entire light bar

Do they make 22" light bar covers for dual rows? And also, there is a little moisture that has developed behind the glass in the lightbar, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to get it out?

there are a couple diffrent sizes for the light bar covers. and can be combined to make the desired lenght. as for the condensation, I am unsure how to remove it but it is a sign that water has gotten inside the bar itself and would make me question the integrity. Might want to check with the person you got it from, they might warranty it for free

I get condensation in mine too. They are cheap Amazon variety. I can't tell a difference in output, they still work great. I'm sure at some point the moisture will eventually take it's toll and I'll have to replace them. Still a great value light IMO.

A fix for my buddy who got similar lights was we siliconed all the joints on the housing. He hasn't had any issues so far.

Light looks great man, I really like the in the grill look.

Ya if the company doesn't warranty it, I was thinking about doing something like the silicon thing you mentioned also. But I contacted the company I purchased the light bar from and I think they are going to warranty it, which is good. And I really like the grill light also. I think my next mod is going to be getting a dephep drop in cargo basket and then mount like 4 to 6 lightbars on the rack.

I have the same setup you're talking about. 40" front, 4 x 6" SR series as side lights and a 10" SR series for rear and all are mounted on my Dephep.
