I have been told that I don’t contribute (Nismo) so for my 1000th post I am doing a very special write up.
I grilled some steaks for my family the other day and figured I would do a tasty how to.

To grill the perfect steak, you have to start with the right meat. I prefer a Ribeye, but my kids prefer NY Strip.
A good ribeye will have a very good color to it, lots of marbling from the fat, and about an inch thick.

Some people prefer to cover their steak up with steak sauce and such after cooking it. I don’t put anything on a steak s I marinade before cooking. There will be differences based on tastes for what you prefer in your marinade. I am not a huge fan of salt so I try not to add any salt to mine. Here is what I put into mine.
Reduced Sodium Dales

Zesty Italian works well also

Blackened Seasoning

Minced Garlic, not Garlic Salt

Once you have all ingredients combined, mix them until uniform color is achieved and place the steaks in the marinade.
Cover the container and place in the refrigerator overnight.

Before grilling you will need this essential component.

Grill you steaks to your preferred level of done.

:::OPTIONAL:::

If you would like to add a little more flavor to your steak, prior to completion you may brush the marinade over the teaks while they are on the grill.

ENJOY!

I'm a bit of a steak whisperer and I can tell exactly when I need to eat steak. You have made me whisper this exact thing.
Nice one for your 1000th!

Thanks, I did it as kind of a joke, but I promise if you grill it that way you will LOVE it. My wife and kids will not even order a steak at a restaurant anymore because i have spoiled them with this.

There's a saying that a steakhouse has started using "You can't fake steak". How true that is.

NMG and his family like steak marinated as many people do. His ingredients look and taste great in combination. I'm sure his steaks are perfect. However, some folks don't like marinated steak (my wife). For that reason ONLY I offer you this...

Shake a few drops of LOW Sodium soy sauce(I don't use salt but the family insists on some) on both sides allow to be absorbed. Sprinkle with Onion powder, Garlic powder, and fresh ground black pepper. If you can get white pepper corns even better. Let stand for 10 minutes minimum. The longer the better.

I have cooked on coals, gas and wood. I prefer wood but you need a lot to get the heat even. Gas is great but it lacks that smokey goodness. Coals are quick, easy and supply that smokey flavor. Toss steaks at least 1 inch apart on a very hot grill. Tossing is important, you can not place a steak on a grill...it's just not right. The hotter the coals (w/o a flame) is also important, you want grill marks not burn marks from the flames. When you see the juices rise to the top, flip it. When the juices rise again to the top, Your steak is now Medium rare. 2 more flips... medium. 2 more...well. Anymore flipping you're on your own cause it's now shoe leather. Enjoy...

This method of checking doneness will work with any cut. Bone in or not.

Hey man, that's what I'm talking about. I encourage people to try it all. See how the flavors work together and really understand the art of grilling because that is what it is, an art.

Get you a small gas grill that runs off of a camping bottle. You can put that on your stove and use the stove hood to vent. Real grilling in a dorm.
