Hey guys, I figured that I would try to do a write-up for this site, so that I might can contribute something.

First, my only resources were the instruction manual and the following thread:

If your mirror looks like below, this is for you.

Step 1: Make sure that you are able to remove your old mirror, you don't want to take apart the interior only to realize you cannot get your old mirror off. You will need a 4mm hex key. Push it into the slot on the bottom of the mirror mount and wiggle the mirror a little. It will take a little work, but it should come off.

Step 2: Remove the chunky butt handle on the drivers side. You will need to pry the covers off, then use a philips head screwdriver to get the screws out. It was very easy, and took just a slight pull after you get the screws out.

Step 3: Remove the door trim. It just pulls off, I always make sure to never pull it all the way off so that it isn't difficult to line up when I go to put it back on.

Step 4: Remove the A-pillar cover on the driver's side. There are 3 or 4 clips on this, and you want to pull from the windshield side towards the driver's door. Pulling the other way may break the clips that hold the piece on. It will look like this when you are done. If you have curtain air bags, be careful.

Step 5: Route the wiring from the proposed mirror location, through the headliner, down the A-pillar, to the driver's footwell. There should be more than enough wire there to do so. Tap the thick red wire on the left side of the footwell, that is the ignition power. I used the vampire clips that came with the Gentex kit. This is where the positive wire will go.

Step 6: Ground the other wire that comes off of the mirror. I already had a ground for some switches and defroster mirrors in the footwell, so I just grounded the mirror at the sound spot.

Step 7: Put the new mirror on, being sure to tighten the T20 Torx bit that holds it on the mount. Be sure not to overtighten.

Step 8: Install the fancy wire cover that keeps the interior looking nice. The curved in goes on the mirror and the square end goes into the headliner.

Step 9: Check to make sure that you are in the correct zone. The mirrors are set to zone 8 from the factory, which happened to be my zone. The zones will be on a map in the instruction packet. If you didn't get instructions, PM me with your location and I will get it for you. Hold the power button for 9 seconds to view the zone, and then press the power button until you get to the correct zone.

Step 10: Calibrate the compass. Drive to an open area where you can do circles. Hold the power button for 12 seconds, or until it says "C" or "CAL". Turn circles until a compass reading comes out (N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW).

Step 11: Test the autodim feature. Make sure that the green LED on the left is lit up. If it isn't, hold the power button for 6 seconds, or until the LED comes on. When you look in the mirror (provided it is daytime) it should show the world in the mirror as is (First picture). Get a piece of black duct tape or dark cloth (Second picture) and cover the photocell (Third picture) on the back of the mirror (Fourth picture). It should get dark within a few seconds depending on how bright it is outside.

That should do it. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Good write up, thanks. I have a few questions is this the factory mirror if not does anyone know if there is a specific process to switch from analogue to digital compass? Would there be any pitfalls to look out for?
