According to received conventional wisdom, OE parts work better on our Xterras than many aftermarket parts.
To find the OE part numbers, the following websites provide lists and useful charts (in some linked):

Courtesy Nissan Parts
Boulder Nissan Nissan Parts & Accessories Online
It is possible to find OE part numbers on auto part sites such as RockAuto.com or PartSouq but not always.
When stuck on parts, especially fittings, I do not hesitate to contact the good folks in the parts department in the Kamloops River City Nissan dealership. As I get to know them, I am getting better prices and great advice (for which I am very grateful).
The dealerships are franchises and the service experience can vary. Just because one dealership may or may not have an iffy reputation does not mean that you should automatically discount all the other dealerships.
