Ok there have been a few people who have been asking how you can have 4WD with a faulty /broke wheel speed sensor. This initially happened to me during a water crossing where I snapped the passenger rear wheel speed sensor and needed to switch into 4 Low later on in the day

step 1: with The engine off place the 4WD selector to 4X4 FDEDCD40-5A66-4FFC-A49D-DD863B2CD84F.jpeg
Step 2: remove the IDPM cover and fine the location for the ABS ECU fuse

and remove the fuse from the IDPM

Step 4: Start the engine. Once the truck is running replace the ABS ECU fuse into the IDPM.

at this point you should hear the transfer case switch into 4WD.
From here as you can se you can switch from 4hi D9748699-2D0C-40EB-A7CA-D79B3C1EE63A.jpegTo 4Lo and back as often as you want

If you switch back to 2wd you will need to repeat steps 1 to 4 to get back to 4x4

Well now that is truly helpful! Thank you.

Just saved those steps in my phone for trail reference.

As an update to the his, if you have the newer black IPDM, it's fuse 20. I'll take a picture Wednesday morning when I leave fo work. Because I'll be doing this.

So. Fun fact. If you drive without putting the fuse back in, things happen.

No speedometer
Odometer doesn't update
No 4x4 display in cluster
4wd light stays on
Brake light stays on
SES light comes on after about 10 miles (code is for wheel speed sensor)

I was toying with the idea of using a popped fuse and soldering some wires to it and running them to a switch inside the cab of the truck with all of the wheel speed sensors i was having last winter. but i figured out the issue before I ended up doing that

After doin this I realized it kicks the 4wd in immediately. I've been stuck before because I didn't put it in 4hi soon enough and couldn't make it the few feet I needed to engage the 4wd. This hack would've gotten me out.

More often than not, you can actually switch to 4Hi without moving, and your foot on the brake and in neutral, just like 4Lo..... That said, you really can't have much if any tension in the system anywhere. Try it on level pavement just sitting idle in neutral, to see if it works for you. I do it all the time.

Maybe the trail edge I slid off some how put tension on it but.. I absolutely could not get it into 4wd while sitting still, no matter what configuration I tried.
