Greetings! I registered years ago then got side tracked and the 2002 X turned into a DD for my daughter. A month ago she called me and said it acted funny when she started it up while on an errand run and the CES light came on. P0304 is #4 cylinder miss. I got the X back cleared the code and started driving it to see what was up. It took 2 weeks for it to do it again. Same situation, I had driven the the hardware store and when I came out and started it it stumbled with a miss, I revved it a little and after maybe 10 seconds it cleared up and ran perfectly but it threw the same code. I thought maybe it needs run for some distance and revved to get hot and clean things out, maybe an injector has some dirt or is sticking or something. Ran some Techron through it. All was good until it did it again yesterday, same thing. It has new plugs, wires, distributor cap when I bought it 6 years ago and have only put 25k miles on it and it's kept in the garage. The plug wires look new on the ends, no corrosion at all. I dumped another dose of Techron in it yesterday and today it's running prefectly. I don't want to fire the parts cannon at it and was hoping someone has had this happen and fixed it. We only run top tier gas. It almost feels like it's flooded, is it possible for an injector to stick open and drain gas into a cylinder after you stop?
It was going to be a trail toy but got repurposed and now that I've got it back maybe I can get back at it. Thanks for the help.
