For those that dont know it sounds like its coming from your front suspension while your driving along and what not.
Odds are its that freaking hood.

I'm sure some of you have a different way of getting this sound to go away.
The stereo is a simple solution but if you wish to have a conversation this will not work for long

My solution is to spray WD40 into the latch and loop, this usually works pretty well for quite a while, but usually comes back.

Whats yours?

Electrical tape around the loop. Fixes it everytime.

I like silicon grease on the top of the hood bumpers. There's a product, of course I forget the name, that's a spray lubricant and as it sits, it turns into grease. I use it on the latch mechanism, hinges and whatnot. But I love the silicon grease on the hood bumpers.

I have had the squeak for as long as I've had my X and have tried everything except the electrical tape and still cant get it to go away. So I just live with it, stereo up.

Untwisting the bumpstops works for a while, eventually it comes back... I got some of those cushiony foam rubber circle shaped feet with the tape bottoms and stuck one of those where each bumpstop meets the body. That also cured my wobbling hood on the freeway. After I got up to a certain speed, the whole hood would bounce up and down from the wind. I STILL had a little squeak, and the electrical tape on the loop fixed the last of it!

Yeah, I've tried those felt pads also. But like you said it comes back eventually. I've got to the point I don't care anymore. But I am going to try the electrical tape.

I put some adhesive backed rubber pads (almost look like little pyramids) wherever the hood cushion pads make contact.
Makes the hood much tighter and the squeak is gone!
They will flatten out eventually and have to be replaced, but cheap!!

Available at about any hardware store like Ace.
