Hidden On/Off switch???

hey all, new to the forum here, i’m hoping someone can answer my question. i’ve had my xterra (2010) for a couple years now and i just noticed this morning a little switch i had no idea existed. it’s hidden at the top of the little cubby hole in my dash. i was wondering what it does, if it does anything? pictures attached, never mind the cord that’s coming out of the compartment, previous owner must have hard wired a charger in. which makes me believe perhaps this switch isn’t part of the original trim. any help is appreciated, this is gonna drive me nuts! thanks!

May switch power to that cord in there. I haven't seen one of those cubbies before? What'd they come in?
i’m really not sure. i tried looking in my owners manual for an idea and it shows nothing with the cubby, only a series of other buttons that would follow the VDC.

nope...definitely not from factory. previous owner did that. Prolly for that charger cord like Terry said

Only way to find out is to pull that part of the dash & see where the wires go.

Find the plug.. place meter Test for power.. When you flip the switch.
That is a add on plug mod.

Like others suggested open it up.. trace the wires.. IF anything.. Make sure its wired correctly and Fused.. So yea do not push button and Get blue smoke an sparks.
