I just made my first hi lift mod and will post pictures when I can. What I did was after loosing a handle to some moron that pulled the pin and took off with it I drilled a hole in my new handle and used a locking pin for trailer couplers

This way the handle is still easy to remove but you have to have the key. I am also looking at making a base that will have teeth on the bottom for se in the ice as we have about 3 months a year where the ice never fully melts. Have you made any special atachments for your hi lift? Let's share some ideas and get everyone home safe.

No special attachments but I won a hi lift tool box that attaches to the handle to store the accessories...only issue is that I don't keep my hi lift mounted on the outside of the truck, so I can't attach the box :/

I have a new one after wanting a more compact shovle I took a old shovle with a broken handle and welding a pipe in place of the handle then I drilled a hole through it then stick it in the handle of the hilift to get a full length shovle.

This was just a first try with a rather messed up shovle head. Next time I will trim the shovle a bit more and make a nicer weld with a head with less notches in it.

Thread revival.

I run with a set of 3/8”x1.5” bolts through my base plate, run the nuts tight to the baseplate, this leaves me with a good set of cleats for ice or slick ground. I also have a 10”x10”x3” piece of rough cut fir that has corresponding holes drilled into it for use in sand (or on the garage floor). Works great.

I also use a Voile ski strap to hold the handle tight to the bar while in transit, keeps it snug and free of rattles.

The only thing I've done to mine is swap the cotter pins for hitch pins so the handle and base remove easily.

It's stored under my back seat so it's out of the weather and relatively safe. A little difficult to get at some times but if I feel like it'll be needed that badly I can move it to the roof rack.
