Post up your Heft Skid Photos Here!
Showcase your Hefty here! No bashing this is for people to show off their skid plates, not debating which brand is better is better.
These things are beefy thats for sure. Hefty has the ability to make steel as well as aluminum, though I havent seen the aluminum ones on an X yet. From Rad Skid to Gas Tank Skid, Hefty is a CAN DO COMPANY!
I currently only have the Radiator Skid, its a beast. Heres is the door oil filter door I painted up on my last oil change.

Since I believe Hefty's making the same exact skids as NX Rocks, I'll give them props. I abused mine in Moab and Ohio and have no complaints. They hold up very well.

Yeah hefty is making them now, they are the same design on all except the gas tank skid he made it so now you don't have to drop the tank brackets to install. Someone correct me here if I'm wrong. This was a recent development.

Ok thats not too bad, just wanted to make sure my dad wouldn't have any issues moving them while I'm gone.

Skids are so heavy.. Its funny you raise your Xterra up to look good and function well.. Then you lower it back with all the needed protection :D

Speaking of all the protection. I have showed some of the guys here a bunch of yalls rigs and when we were watching Windtalkers earlier our Puerto Rican decided he was gonna be a windtalker and name our rigs totugas.

And thusly, we put heavier springs in to raise the X back up again.

At least, that's what my eventual plan is. Once I finally get the full set of kit for Off-Kilter:

  • Full set of skids - have these.
  • Sliders - have these
  • Camping and sleeping gear, to include camp kitchen, stoves, and such like - have most of this.
  • A set of tools to handle most trail repairs - have a goodly part of these
  • Recovery tools - high lift, saws, axes, straps, and so forth - I'm part of the way there
  • Armored bumpers, front and rear - don't have these yet.
  • Winch - again, don't have this yet
  • Water and food for significant off-roading trips - I can load up on this as needed, but would like some better containers to hold it.
  • My storage/sleeping platform set up - the goal is to start on this over the winter/spring
  • Some sort of shade/canopy set up

Once I've got all of this, it's time to weigh it up and get appropriate springs to hold it all. I still plan on sleeping in the X, as I normally do, so no need for a tent (but I do own several).

That's for the solo trips. I'd also like to use the X as a basecamp and go on day hikes centered on my X as a camp.
