Traded the wife's Xterra in just before Christmas last month. Now that she has a new car I'm back to next in line for a new vehicle and thinking about selling/trading my Xterra in later this year or early next year on a full size truck. We are doing more with the camper and the X does struggle with it at times so a bigger truck with proper towing capacity would fit our needs a little better. Plus my original plan for the xterra was an overland vehicle and I can't find the time for those style trips. Maybe when the boy is older we can revisit this idea but until then reality is putting a damper on the dreams. It's been fun but at this point I think the demodding is going to begin and hopefully the private sale of the truck will follow.

I hate to hear that but I understand.

Having done that myself with my Cherokee, if you can swing it hang on to the X and buy a truck too. I never should have let my Cherokee go and I played catch-up getting the Xterra fixed up to where my Cherokee was.

Shame to go from 2 X’s to none, but it’s a niche vehicle, even as an overlander you sacrifice for capability. However, plenty of pickups are doing the overlander thing. Get a diesel, preferably a 2010 or older to avoid the DEF bs.

That was an option that crossed my mind so I could have a toy that still fits the family but I think I will need the value out of the X to make a newer truck happen financially.

I'm currently looking at 15-up F250 gassers just because the DEF crap and extra maintenance/fuel costs out way the increased MPG. Also the 6.2L gas motor has been going for a good amount of time and has proven to be just as reliable as the modern diesels.

I really like my xterra and know it can go anywhere I want it too but it's too big of a risk to offroad and beat up the truck. Also the 5,500lbs towing capacity disappears a lot faster than I expected so bumping up to 14,000lbs should more than exceed our family's needs for quite a while.

Just checking back in here, I still have the Xterra and almost have it paid off! I'm still planning on trading it in or selling it towards the end of the year but for now I've been enjoying it. Just last week I had to run into work and grab some equipment to work from home and I took the opportunity to grab some photos on the way home.

Yeah I wish I could but selling the Xterra is what will make financing the next truck possible.

Just get both. You'll be happier... I'm glad I have both.

Once again I wish I could. I keep looking at diesel Excursions and have found a few that I could almost trade keys for keys but the wife will never go for buying a 16YO truck.... New I should have wrote that pre-nup!

Well the de-modding has officially begun... Took the wheels over to a shop and swapped the tires with the ranger so now it's back on 265/75R16s

Well Kids... It happened last night, the Nissan is gone and replaced with a new to me 2019 Ford F150. It's been a lot of fun and I will mist the helpfulness of the Nissan community but I know this new truck will be much more comfortable towing the trailer from now on.
