GPS Docking Station

I had the dock in my old X, but I never used the Garmin 750 with it. I had modified it to use a Garmin with a mini USB charging port instead. In my case I had a Nuvi 1490 and a 2455 in it. Anything is better than the suction cup mount and wires hanging all over the place.

I can't wait to get the new dock to use with my 2455.

I'm looking at the Garmin 3450, but I want to make sure that it has the same dock connection before I buy it. It looks like it does, but I sent an email out to Garmin to be sure. If they say it will work, that's probably what I'll go with. I too hate all the wires hanging out all over the place.

Modifying the dock and wiring to use any Nuvi you want, or any other portable GPS for that matter, is easy. I have a how-to thread for it somewhere.

AFAIK, the only Nuvis that used that type of dock connector were the 700 series.

I've had mine for over a year and it works great with my 765. Easy install and there are plenty of how to mods out there for the newer Garmins.

I did mine and it's awesome.

I've been looking at this housing also....but want to use it with a Garmin that has Lifetime Map Updates. I know Rangerguru said he was looking at the 3450, as have I, and it looks like they actually have the same underside connections as the 750 and 760. Has anyone else tried this model? I am curious if it will work, or if I'm going to have to Mod it either way it goes?

Just ordered one through my dealer, 66$ and no shipping cost, just have to wait till we go to Illinois for the 4th of July to pick it up, thinking since I ordered a ram mount for my ipad and I'll use that for the rare times I need nav, I'm gunna use this for my bullydog if I decide to get one
