Found my pass side axel seal leaking and judging by the color of the fluid... it's more than past due for a change. Might as well change out both deals while I'm at it.

Drained the fluid the same night I found it leaking. It's not too bad. There was a little water but I believe this happened Saturday so luckily I caught it early. I've already ordered the 2 new axle seals. Once those get here, I'll have those installed. Once that's done, I'll have the diff flushed again and then fill it up with some Royal Purple Synthetic Gear Oil. I'll also have to check on the diff breather and make sure its clean and also to see how water got in it.

While waiting for the seals to come in, I went ahead and mounted/wired up new side/ally lights. Brighter in person. Got a few dark spots I need to get covered. The lights are 18w 6" lights from eBay. $25 for 4 of them. Still have to finagle the switch to get it to light up when the headlights are on but that's a later date.

Small update:

Got my Hood Rod kit from Off Road gorilla along with their Diff Breather Kit. Also got my 3"-4" 5100's and rear bump stops. Also got some titan brake lines and my rear E-Locker harness from Blackwatch Customs. Still have a lot to do before GONE so I'll be stupid busy.

Still have to install ARB compressor and hook it to the front locker, wire up the rear locker. Those are the main things I have to do. I also have some skids coming and also got a 9" E-Fan I have to install to help keep the tranny cool. So many freaking things to do lol. It's kind of hard to get it all done with my hectic work schedule but hopefully soon I can have a mod day and just get it all done!

So.... a bit of an update..... When night wheeling with some Jeep buddies. Went over a hill and the other side was apparently stupid steep and came down really hard and blew up my driver side radflo. Scary part was having to dig out the hill and go backwards to load it on the trailer. Doing that in turn, damaged the fender a little bit. From the looks of it, it appears to just be the coilover that's busted. The coil bucket looks bent in the pics but it does not appear to be damage in person. No bends or cracks in it. We will know more once we get that sketchy coil spring out safely. I'm pretty pissed at myself as I'm the one who is always careful and always gets stuck because I go too slow but not this time apparently.

Here's my pictures of shame...

Duuuude. That sucks. So you got some air and bottomed out really hard?
Yup! The JKU ahead of me bottomed out on it so I knew I needed to have a little more gas on it but I put too much and didn't realize how steep the other side of the hill was and slammed down hard as hell. I'm pretty upset with myself as I am the one who is always over cautious.

Yea it couldn't have happened at a worse time. In the middle of moving so I don't have a chance to even work on it

Small update:

The boot on the CV is in fact torn due to the spring up against it and us getting it off the trailer. I've got 2 new Cardone Titan CV's that came in from Rock Auto. I also bought a boot replace kit from them as the CV is perfectly fine but the boot tore so I'll have 2 spare CV's for MOAB.

I also forgot I needed coil spring isolators when I ordered the tundra TS stuff so I ordered those and just waiting on those to come in.

This Saturday will be a heavy mod day!

Gotta get the front suspension off and install the new Dirt King UCA's along with the front coilovers. I'll be installing both new CV's and hooking up the air locker for the front. I'll be putting the new rear suspension on along with the diff breather and shock skids. I'll also be installing the rear extended bump stops and hope to get to wiring up the M226 locker. I ordered the stock harness for it but somehow misplaced it during my move into my house. It was fairly cheap so I may have to order a new one if I can't find it.

Going to try and get to the E-Fan too but that may have to wait till Sunday. I also got some skid plates in so I gotta prep and paint those. It's an engine skid, tranny/t-case skid. It came with a rad skid but don't need that so I'll probably sell it to help recoup some cost. Got them all for pretty cheap. They are the DIY Skids from the plans floating around. I still need a gas tank skid but I don't think I'll have the time for it before Moab.

I'll post up some updates hopefully Saturday!

Sounds like a busy weekend. Hope you "know a guy."

Have you built those skids yet? I don't troll around too much on the other forums, so I'd like to know how they're working out. It also occurred to me much later after I co-drew them that they should be metric hole sizes and dimensions converted to imperial. You do what you can I guess.

I do have a guy who is going to supervise lol. I've giving him a break and its time for me to do all the work. I bought them from a guy in IL. I think Tony (DepHep) made them for him. I know Tony is running those skids. They are all rusty so I gotta sand and paint them. UPS royally fudged the package so all the bolts are missing so I'll have to get new hardware.

Friend of a friend found my old X at a junkyard... so many memories and just sad to see. This X helped me get through my divorce and kept me busy.

Yea all drivetrain and axles are gone. I imagine the R180 is in there. It has pretty low miles on it. The exterior is basically untouched

I'm glad he was able to find it for you haha crazy how that worked! You do need to go visit it though! I think it'd be pretty cool.

How would you get those rear leaf packs off? I assume the whole rear end would need to be lifted up since it looks like all the weight is sitting right on them.

Yea, I would have to bring my hi-lift and put it on the hitch and do it that way. But that's totally up to my brother though. If he doesn't want them, I'm not going to do it lol. I'm def going to go see it though. I may bring some flowers for it haha

Update: Still not roadworthy :(

Did some work on the X. Found the driver side LCA is busted st the shock mount and needs replacing. Both bottom shock bolts are seized inside the heim joints,so they will have to be cut out. So while that marinates for a little, I went ahead and added my Hood Rod Mod and installed the rear diff breather. Went from a good opening of 23.5" to 29". Very happy with these. Next up is mounting the rear bump stop extensions, the ARB compressor and finally running switches and air line down to the locker. Still need to do rear shocks and skids and wire the E-Locker.

Small update, went to a junkyard and picked up some new Titan LCA's. These have about 60k on them but all Ball joints are in good condition. I sent back the Titan isolators and have the correct Xterra isolators on the way.

Well big update! I got her finally moving again today! Those damn budget coilovers were a nightmare lol. Between the isolators, springs and tophat, I almost didn't win! Finally got the coilovers assembled and ready to get put on. Installed the new LCA and the Dirt King UCA's along with new cam bolts. They didn't spin either! They came out nice and easy! Also installed the new CV. This was the first time I've ever done a CV replacement and I gotta say, its not too bad to do! Same thing with the hubs. So I'm at least learning a thing or two!

Once we got it all assembled, we took it on a test drive. Alignment is off pretty good but drove nice. Gotta tweak some stuff as I'm hearing some slight popping or something. Mostly happens when turning right at a speeds but it could be the rack and pinion. It already has a slow leak but might have to change it out.

Next up is the rear shocks, plumb the front locker and mount/wire the compressor, wire the e-locker and wire up the E-fan. All to do before GONE lol. No pressure!!

Right after we finally got the coilovers assembled, we had a moment [emoji23]
