GoPro Studio Exporting

So last night I got working on my long over due video from NEXterra's Winter Run 2015 back in January. I created the longest video I have that was a straight dump from camera to YouTube and I started exporting at around midnight EST. Well I wake up and the little bastard is still going. It was at like 80% exported and I was really confused bc it never took this long before. Well I got ahold of GoPro and talked to them and they apparently put this feature in a few months back called Flux. Basically, if you do any time warping such as slow motion or speeding up video, it applies flux to it. What flux does is create extra frames to smooth out where you speed or slow down the frames and marry it to the normal frame rate. This is really cool except it slows down the export exponentially. There are a few places for the flux to appear. First is when you are editing, when you slide the frame rate to speed up or slow down it automatically applies it. You'll see it with a box that is checked on the right next to the sliders. Turn it off there. If you have multiple clips that you have altered the speed, you will need to turn it off. This goes for video clips or photos. Then next place you'll see it is when you hit export and the dialogue box pops up asking you to choose where to put it and to name it. The selection is at the bottom where you can select the quality of picture for the export (1020p, 720p, youtube, blah blah blah). Deselect it there and there will be no flux. It will still take hours to do but hopefully it wont take 3/4 of a day. Also a little tip, if you can export it to your local hard drive (computer desktop or where ever that isnt an external drive) you should do that as the write speeds of the computer is faster than that of an external hard drive.

Here is a video from Film Riot explaining the GoPro Hero 4 and a little more about GoPro Studio and flux. They compare using flux versus not using it.
