So what if you wanna go but it'd be the 1st time to 4x4 Moab and are still sorta unsure of yourself or truck while "in the real shiat", aka pucker factor 12.. I mean, I've hit a bunch of easy/moderate stuff here in CO but I'd hate to take off a week, pay for lodging and find out I'm totally outta my element...

Gotta learn somewhere but I'd hate to catch a Greyhound home.

I think you'll be just fine. Sign up for green and maybe blue trails. I don't know your driving style, but the only thing I've broken is a sway bar end link ( back when I had sway bars). The only trails I haven't done are the black rated trails. The trail leaders want to get you through without breaking anything and are going to do everything they can to accomplish that. Many of the more difficult obstacles have bypasses.

I have to worry about driving my rig home too (over 1300 miles). Sometimes things happen which are out of our control. A part may be at the end of its life and you don't know it. I've never known anyone to be left with a broken rig and no help. This is an awesome group.

No matter what you sign up for, you will have a good time. The scenery is amazing and I've enjoyed every trail I've been on.

Having done 5+ gone moab events. My first year I was in your position. Everyone is willing to spot you, everyone is willing to climb under a rig, and you will always get off the trail. Being a newbie is awesome in moab, everything looks crazy and unwheelable, but its a game of follow the leader. Once you do it you get more and more excited to wheel the crazy stuff.

Sign up, go with an open mind, always ask if you are unsure.

Nice, thanks for the encouragement. I've done some rappelling and hiking in Zion/Arches so I know how sweet the area is and dangerous too..

I've only had the X around 15 month's and replacing the motor and 3 cat's [ Maryland has emission testing ] kinda pushed some upgrades to the back burner but i'm hoping maybe next year even if just for the kiddie trail's. Ok I'm an OLD kid.

Moab is about 400 miles closer to me than Pine Grove was for ECXC. I don't know if I'll be going or not but I would like to.

We have 5 plus our dog coming from Indiana. Looking into camping options currently. My wife and I stayed at Kane Creek Campground two years ago for Easter Jeep but it was just ok aside from waking up to cool canyon wall views every morning. I know a bunch of people do the free BLM sites but I think the fam at least needs access to showers and running water for the week.

Just made our camping reservation at Pack Creek Campground. Not as much room or as nice scenery as Kane Creek Campground but facilities are much more family friendly, price is cheaper, and it's actually in town.

By the way, if anyone is interested I will be bringing along some items for sale. I have two sets of first gen auto hubs with hardware. I will also have good condition first gen AC revolver shackles, torsion bars, and possibly their 3 leaf add a leaf set. Lastly, I may bring a good condition 2004 auto trans TX10 transfer case with around 177k miles. If anyone is interested in anything let me know.

What time Friday is everything wrapping up? Trying to decide whether to start heading home Friday evening or Saturday morning.

May I suggest watching the GoneMoab 2020 podcast from Nissan Nationhttps://youtu.be/q4lr91xDRbA . It explains the Gone schedule for this year.

Short Answer - the raffle will be Friday night. It is a good way to get some heavy discounts on parts has the vendors will usually raffle them off. Also, a really nice way to wrap up the week with all the new buddies you just made at the event. Most people leave Saturday morning. It's a three day weekend, most have Monday to get back home.

COVID-19 update.

Utah has limited events to gatherings of 10 people. We see that as 10 people per trail. We're still having gone, damnit!

Just without the large gatherings. So we're going to find a way to do the raffle online and mail stuff. The Meet & Greet, Zaks, and BBQ have all been canceled until further notice.

Official response :

With the ongoing coverage surrounding the coronavirus outbreak and its potential effects, it is our top priority to keep our community safe and informed. With GoneMOAB 2020 3 months away, it is too early and the situation too dynamic to predict what will be happening in May. We are continuing the planning of the event for May 17-22 in Utah.

The GoneMOAB team is monitoring the situation daily and following the guidelines set-forth by our federal and local government and health agencies and are in close, on-going contact with local Moab authorities. In addition, we are working with the permitting agencies to ensure the highest level of control measures and best practices are being implemented around the event. Our focus is to keep attendees, exhibitors and the greater outdoor community updated regularly.

Please reach out to our team with any questions:

Sincerely,

LeLan Merel

Went to register tonight and eventbright shows that it is sold out of driver tickets is this accurate or just a website error? Was hoping to bring the turbo X to the event this year.

Ticket sales are suspended at the moment due to COVID-19. We are still planning on running trails and depending on how the next few weeks go, we may open things back up. A bit. I will keep you informed.

Well with Gone 2020 officially canceled, is anyone still planning on going if they don't extend the restrictions? My family was really looking forward to this trip and I'm holding out hope it will still be possible if May 1st remains the cutoff.

Beat me to it.

It is with great sadness that we send out this notification. Due to the craziness going on in the world today we have decided to cancel goneMOAB 2020.

We were hoping travel restrictions would be lifted in time but the Moab City Council has informed us that lodging restrictions are now being extended until at least May 1st.We tried hanging on as long as we could, but we felt like we owe you time to cancel your reservations and get your deposits back. Feel free to reach out to the goneMOAB team if you have any questions.

If you have already purchased an event ticket, you should have received an email as to how we are handling the cancellation of the event. If you did not receive an email please let our team know.
