What mods are you planning and/or wishing for before this year's GoneMOAB?

I've got a couple of little things to do:
- reinforce iPad ram mount with strapping to prevent shaking/vibration
- swap out buttoncap screws with stainless steel so I can get them on and off (thought I'd bought stainless steel last year but apparently not based on number of button caps scraped into uselessness)
- fluids
- new CB antenna mount
- finish replacing crappy hub studs with cap screws (did some, left the others that didn't want to come out easy)

...and some big things I'm contemplating:
- ARB lockers
- OBA (if I decide not to run lockers off power tank)
- replace tired rear leaf pack plus new shackles from RokFab

Time to get cracking!

:d

Prime, paint, and mount skid plates
Ideally I'd like to change my diff fluid
Pick up my rear bumper,
Possibly paint my rims.

Maybe there's more, I did a lot in the last few months so yeah

^^^change your diff fluid before you mount your skid plates! Seems obvious, but it's the kind of thing you overlook and then wish you hadnt...

yeah, back not a problem, but I like to do them all at once. I changed all mine before MOAB last year so, like you, I may elect to let it be for this year

Assuming everything ends up going to plan, here's my mod list:
  • New UCAs (PRG or TC)
  • Radflos or similar
  • Cambolts
  • Might get around to painting the bumpers
  • Jam nuts on the tire carrier
  • Put new tip on my Firestik (mine got scrapped off)
  • Better clothes storage
  • Change the fluids all around
  • Add missing skid bolt
  • New shoes

Oh yeah - get in better shape so the hike up Pike's Peak doesn't kill me.

Change fluids and that's it until the week of Moab, where the mod is putting clothes on after a rough night!

This is all completely up in the air for me now, depending on whether I can get Terra ready for her big moment in time. If not, I'll need to get sliders on The Chef, get a CB in there, and wire up the rear locker...

Well, no shocker here but I'm off to a slow start. I did replace the tip on my Firestik, but also had to do the rear brakes. New rotors and pads.

Ah yeah, gotta finish my skid set. Need engine and t-case skids so that I don't get stuck on Hells Revenge again this year, ahahaha!

^not worth the price when you add in shipping IMO and I do not have cash ready. I would need to charge the skids.

If you just need the pads, that's only about $38 or so, after tax. Maybe two hours of work if you like screwing around like I do.

Aw idk about doing my own brakes I've never done that before

Well, gonna drop off the X tomorrow at coworker's shop to get the following done/looked at:

  • Engine oil leak (apparently I smashed in the oil pan pretty hard core)
  • Change out fluids for: both front and rear diffs, transfer case, power steering and coolant
  • find coolant leak
  • assess how many miles I have left on all brakes rotors (I already have a new set waiting to be installed)
  • assess how badly damaged my left rear shock is
  • Clean out EVAP canister and hose so that damn SES light will go away (ref TSB# NT B07-058)
  • Overall inspection of everything else

Easy peasy, gen 2's are all discs aren't they?

It's one of those things that's incredibly easy to do, and hard to mess up, but in your mind because it is brakes you make it out to be a bigger deal then it is and start to worry, just take your time and some pics of how stuff is together and you will be done in no time..

I agree with Luke... Front brakes are so easy.... Joe its 1 hours of nothing..

You will need a c clamp and a couple tools..

The rear brakes are disc brakes, too - so just as easy. The rear drums (e-brakes for us) are a bit more difficult, but honestly not that difficult. However, if you're worried, just do them with someone else you know who's done them before. You'll be amazed at the easy of the process. Loosen one bolt, remove the other, rotate the assembly up, pop the old pads out, push the piston in, pop the new ones in (clean things up if you feel it's warranted), and push the assembly back down. Retorque the bolts and you're done.

You've probably thought of this, but inspect your evap lines. I broke one after I did my body lift, and it threw evap codes
