Post up pics of your camp set up. Top to bottom!

Have any great gear to share?

My favorites pieces of camping equipment so far are my awning, fold up table, and X-bed.

I also enjoyed my skeeter beaters, but they are just a novelty that I should have made myself.

That X-Bed is AWESOME....we may have to "borrow" your idea! Much better than an air mattress! I love the skeeter beater too!

Thank you :) it's better than an air mattress for sure, but it's limited to the Xterra usage bothered my wife after I cut it hehe. She was thinking we'd toss it on our guest bed when not in use until that point.

One thing though. I do recommend finding some way to seal the mattress or something because it's not like it's machine washable. We had a nice big jug of water that leaked on the ride up to the camping site and soaked the mattress quite a bit. It took lots of time airing out to get dry enough not to be a major pain. That and it was difficult to keep clean from dirt while on a week long camping trip. I'm thinking about modifying some kind of plastic fitted sheet for it or something.

Man.....that sucks! I know they make mattress vinyl bags so that your mattress doesn't get ruined if you spill...I bet you could get a full size one and mod it down to the dimensions of your mattress and keep it on it all times...

I just looked on overstock and there are lots of options between $20 and $50 that would zip around the whole thing.

I just got back in to camping less than a year ago and here are a few of the things I've picked up.

I go this tent on close out for $110. :)

I got into Hammock Camping, and with the bug net it is bug free like a tent and no hard cold ground.
The Hammock is from ENO and the bug net that ties off on both ends is from Trek Lightly.

Here is a glamor shot of my Mora #2 knife. I got 3 different models from Ben's for under $50 shipped. The knives arrived already very sharp, and as we learned from 127 hours you don't want to leave the house with out a sharp knife!

Here's few updates in my gear. My brother in law is always perusing the sale sections in the camping gear. Be it Kmart or Walmart, he finds the deals for me.

He got me this stove for $2.50. And he bought himself 3....

Then he got me this tent for $70. It normally goes for $120.

and here's something I need to add to my camping gear as well.

Thanks for the heads up. So it needs waterproofing as in a waterproof cover? Or like a spray on stuff?

The stoves were one of those "if it breaks, who cares" buys. He is keeping the other ones for himself for backups. He does a lot of camping though.

Man, I feel sorry for you guys. :zomg:

I don't have many pics of our equipment, but our terrain is great as well. I want to build a decent bed for the X as well. Even in the summer it can get down to the 40's at night, especially depending on the side of the mountain you're on. When we go camping above Boulder this summer, I'll have to take some pics. Maybe even a Ouray trip, take the nephews down Black Bear Pass and see Bridal Veil Falls.

most of the stuff that I camp with.

I hate sleeping on the ground, and the trailer holds all of the camping stuff and spare parts

Here's my wifes camping gear:

That being said, if I want to really rough it, it's just me & the dog in the X. I carry enough gear & food to make it about a week if I can find water.

Thinking I will build an off road tear-drop trailer sometime in the future and see if she'll try that (no shower, toilet, running water....sigh.. Spoiled!)

Just think how nice it would be to pull in & park. Set the stabilizer feet & level up. Climb in & go to bed if late or bad weather.... More secure, warmer, and fast set-up/tear down.

In the third picture down....what sort of barrier net is that? is that something that came stock with the Second Gen.?

Didn't see this. ^^^^^^^
That is a Nissan dog barrier / net. Can't remember which site I bought it from a few years ago. Not even sure if they're still available.

Macland: Where did you get the material for the mattress pad?

Overstock.com I'd link it for you but I'm on my phone, but I'm almost 100% certain I linked it up in my build thread. The mattress says it's 5 inches but it's really. Like 3 and a half with a one and a half inch egg crate topper. The 3 1/2 inches supports pretty well once you are laying down though. The only time we ever felt the floor of the X was when we'd crawl around or sit up on our elbows or something.

What coolers do you guys have? About how much did they cost you? If anyone sees a good deal come along let me know because I'm gonna need a full sized one.

Amazon sporting goods is offering $20 a $100 purchase of Coleman qualifying items, there are 10 pages of things and I'm pretty sure they all qualify for free super saver shipping.

Got the new tent in, put it up

image-1633405560.jpg

And then the damned thing broke. Lemme tell ya how pissed off I am to spend a few hundred bucks on a new tent, and then get told "sorry, we'll have to order another from the manufacturer and that'll be 9-11 days minimum. To which I promptly lost my temper, and am taking it back to sears, getting my money back, and will order a Coleman weathermaster 10 from amazon.com.

That sucks man, I can't believe they couldn't do anything on a better time frame.

I can it's sears they don't care

what I got told from the customer service was, the reason the timeframe was what it was because they would have to order another one direct from the manufacturers warehouse and then they would ship it to their warehouse and then ship it to the store. they didn't have any way that they can do anything expedited and shipped directly to me or anything else because the original shipment method was to the store

And its gander mountain with the win, went out there and they had a slightly smaller tent for a hundred and five dollars less which means that I can afford to buy the tent, the Chem-Dry and everything else for less than what I paid for the other tent and hopefully be just as happy with it... we'll find out later...now I go home and help the neighbor do the fuel pump on his heep

I love my Coleman. We've got a 5 person for the two of us, but yeah...

This one is a gander mountain house brand 8 person, somewhat of a dual dome with screen porch design. I was going to go with a Coleman weathermaster 10 but all of the sites I looked at had quite a few bad reviews on most every new Coleman designed tent...

My Coleman Max 13'x9' is the best tent I've ever owned. Perfect for family camping. I got the Cabela's deluxe camp kitchen as a gift. Heavy as hell but its nice once it's set up (not raccoon proof). The ice chest is one of my favorite things...10 bucks at a thrift store! Holds ice all weekend. The camp shower/bathroom is nice to take when the wife tags along.
