GB FEELER: Gobi Hatch Ladder

So there seems to be a lot of people interested in the Gobi hatch ladders. I am trying to orchestrate a group buy from Gobi Racks on their ladders that mount to the hatch.

http://www.gobinissan.com/00xterra.htm

::UPDATE::

So they went ahead and gave me pricing:

10 or more is $180 including shipping to lower 48 states.

If you are interested in the heavy duty lift gate springs, these would be an additinal $80 a set which includes (2).

Taxes are extra I you are in Colorado.

Before they can tell me how long it takes to get them we will need a final total first.

1. Year of your Xterra

2. Mounted on the right or left side of the hatch

3. Are you wanting to use with a rear ShrockWorks bumper. (If so the ladder can only be mounted on the passenger side)

Since this is a feeler I will let this run a little while until the responses start to die off to approach Gobi with if that is ok with the mods?

I'm in depending on the price. Question though is the plate for the Shrockworks bumper needed only for their bumpers or for most aftermarket ones? I'm gonna be running a Hefty bumper if somebody can give me their $.2 it would be appreciated.

Hefty emailed back saying their rear bumper will work with the regular Gobi.

Otherwise mine is:

2005, Right Side, No SW

Ok I spoke with them again. The other lady I talked to gave misleading info. It is not a plate at all. They make a ladder to accommodate the Shrock bumper. Something about the Shrock has a spot for a hi-lift and the other ladder would interfere. They do not make one to accommodate any other aftermarket bumpers.

NOTE: If you have a ShrockWorks bumper the ladder can only be mounted on the passenger side!

Nik, I'm not trying to rain on your GB but are you sure Gobi gave you the right info?

If you're planning on getting rear tire carrier, you should order the ladder for the PASSENGER SIDE only.

These pics explains itself:

Here's the info from a older GB:

Notes on choosing which ladder to get
If you have a 2nd gen Xterra there are 3 ladder options, standard passenger side, standard driver side, Shrockworks compatible (passenger side only)
1) If you have the OEM bumer you can use any of the 3 options
2) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper without the tire carrier and hi-lift mount you can use any of the 3 options
3) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper with the tire carrier but without the hi-lift mount you can use either the standard passenger side or Shrockworks compatible
4) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper with the tire carrier and the hi-lift but won't be mounting the jack on the bumper you can use either the standard passenger side or Shrockworks compatible
5) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper with the tire carrier and the hi-lift mount and will have your jack on the bumper then you need to get the Shrockworks compatible

If you have the Calmini bumper with tire carrier then I believe you can use either the standard passenger side or Shrockworks compatible

If you have a 1st gen Xterra there are 2 ladder options, standard passenger side, standard driver side (a Shrockworks compatible will be produced if necessary, but at this point no-one has indicated a problem with the standard ladder)
1) If you have the OEM bumer you can use either of the 2 options
2) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper without the tire carrier and hi-lift mount you can use either of the 2 options
3) If you have the Shrockworks rear bumper with the tire carrier you'll need the standard passenger side

I would try to double check with them again....pretty sure Kneebuster (The guy that did all Gobi GB's) stressed that pretty well.

Depending on the price, 2012, Passenger side, No SW Hi-lift compatiable.

I'm in depending on what price they can offer.

2000, right side (passenger), No SW bumper.

The Gobi rep seems to be confused.

Anybody know what a realistic weight limit is on this ladder? I'm kind of a heavy guy and my weight plus whatever I may be carrying to put up on the roof seems like a lot to ask of the way the ladder clamps on and the hinges that the hatch hangs from.

Does anyone know what the normal price is? They don't list it on their site. Also, do we need to replace the lift-gate shocks? Is the ladder that heavy?
If the discount is good, I would be in for this.
2010, left (driver's side), OEM bumper.

I have a custom rear tire carrier with gas cans. I'm interested, but want to know how far off the surface of the rear hatch the ladder is so that I can measure and make sure it is compatible. Does anyone know this measurement by chance?

This is a pic of space between my tire and hatch:

I don't know the exact measurement, but I think the ladder comes out too far to fit with your bumper. Maybe it would fit with a wheel spacer where you attach the wheel to the carrier, but it will still be tight.

The ladder is 10lbs and you don't have to replace the lift gate springs.

They told me normal retail is $219.95 shipping included.

TRUST ME!! You will want to replace your rear hatch struts, I thought I could get by with stock.....but I was wrong lol. But don't order their's, you can get some better stronger struts for cheaper from McMaster-Carr. Let me look up my part numbers and I will post them here later.

It is a good deal.. but I want one like this

PART951328227417773.jpg

and I say that because I like that it is on the side, and it also takes up the plastic corner.. but this might cost more.. I will hunt around and see what I can come up with.
