Getting ready for PML,BL

Ordered pucks and got bolt guy at work to hook me up with bolts.
Made my own shackles.

Pucks have come in,bolts will be Monday, shackles are done.

Still probably 2 weeks out from having time to do it but stuff is happening.

Last couple of weeks work covered here.

First weekend did the body lift.

All went well but make sure you have enough free play in upper rad hose...I did not

$150 later and all is well.......(damn it all)

Then I went and threw some cheap 285/75 R16 M/T's on him.

Went and played in dirt.

This weekend went to do PML. Did the front, left it with 3/4" of rake.
Like the way it sits, didn't install shackles and may not.
It rides better, especially on the highway.
(and before anyone tells me it's supposed to have x amount of rake I know that)

BL is easy just make sure everything you need to loosen is loose and check everything when you get done.
Rad broke on shakedown run right as we got back to house. If I'd have seen how tight it was I'd have gotten a new hose to put some play in it and saved a bunch of money, like switching to Geico.

I was looking at the shackle drawing....and wondering what eye to eye measurement math you were using.

For a shackle for example, every 1" of length over stock gives ~ 1/2" of rear lift. So, to get 1.5" of rear lift, you make it 3" longer than stock...and the stock is ~ 3", so a 6" eye to eye gives 1.5" of lift.

It looks like you went with closer to 5.41" of eye to eye...yielding ~ 1.2" of lift?

Yep,did that on purpose. Wanted to take some of the rake out of it.
After adjusting the torsions in the front I still have about 3/4" of rake, didn't even put the shackles on.
Think I'm gonna wait until I get new UCA's to lift a little higher or dump all that to SAS.

Well now that my computers re-done and this site loads correctly I'll soldier on with this.

While playing at Hardrock I found the weakest link in the steering.

Tie rods couldn't take it.

Got some HD rods from 4x4parts and some Dezza ends.

Been back to the Rock twice now and so far so good.

Next up,install front locker and diff drop.

Well last Sunday Ivan's starter decided it was no longer for this world.

Ivan was not happy.

Got him towed home.
Decided to get a new instead of remaned starter.

Starts great.
One thing I found while under there was how much mud gets in the alternator (stupid place to mount that Nissan).

Did a test....
Not running batt at 12.6v (Batt is only 3 months old)
Running at idle 13.5v
Cleaned alt with about 3/4 can of contact cleaner, sprayed till dripping clean.
Running at idle now 14.6v

Nissan really did do a freak job with the alternator location. I guess it was the only spot left, though. I should prob clean mine out too. Gotta get some cleaner. Which did you use, Jeff?

Sent through an exorcism and salt flavored shotgun shells.
