We have been catching these out here for almost a month now. I don't have a rod and reel yet next time I come out. So i haven't caught any. But I do have gaff them and haul them up to the deck. This one was 121lbs. its not me holding it up so I blurred out the face.

This is not a picture but this is what happened to us the other night. The head after we brought it up was about 25lbs still. and yes it did bight the gaff and we had it for a second.

I haven't posted in this thread in a while and that makes me sad. Why? Cause I HAVEN'T BEEN GOING FISHING!!! Ok, /rant

I did buy a little 10' aluminum boat that I can lift onto the roof of the X to take Lee out with. He already got his first bluegill and trout last year so he keeps telling me he wants to catch bass now! Ah 4 year olds!

I grew up pond fishing in Oklahoma... Going back home for a couple weeks here in about 2 weeks soI am excited! Here's one I caught last year on about a 10 acre pond, hence the boat. It's about the average size for that pond. I have pulled a couple of 7 pounders out of there.

I'm from up around the Stillwater area (little town called Perkins). Just alot of farm land and great ponds on them. When you work for the guys, they tend to give you free range (within its limits of course) on their property.

That's what I'd like to find around here but I haven't been invited out to a place yet. People keep their land and ponds close to their vest here.

Went out this morning dad and I didn't catch anything but some sun, gonna try again in the morning. I haven't caught any keepers as of recent but this is my doormat from a couple summers ago.

Thanks Haha the only thing I can fly fish are those streams off of the mountains... Those rivers are moving way to fast which is upsetting.. I am sick of lure fishing haha

Saturday right at dark, I throw out a lure and tell Lee to reel it in. He says he thinks he has one and starts to reel it in. As it gets near the boat he starts struggling and the fish starts taking out drag and diving down. After a couple of missed net attempts, I grab the rod and get the fish in the net. He pulled in a 17in Brown Trout all on his own! He couldn't stop telling everybody nearby and at camp that he caught a huge fish! That's my boy!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373098202.071586.jpg

Looks awfully similar to this bad boy one of my friends dad pulled in, late at night, same thing as your kid, but he reeled this beast in.

He was about 17 inches if I remember correctly

It is always nice to see someone catch there first something. It makes them wana keep fishing. I went fishing on the 4th for the first time in almost 2 years down here. I did not catch anything but just being by water (and not working) for a few hours was benificial enough.
