Anything that can handle the weight of the X. If want trailer brakes. What are you using as a tow vehicle? I've never rented just a car trailer. United rentals is probably a good start though.

What gen is your X? I have gen 1.5 and when I tried, I was told that it would have to be all 4 wheels off of the ground. The X is heavy! (plus I had a lot of stuff in it). I ended up just buying an 18 foot trailer, using it 2-3 times, then selling it for more than what I paid for it lol. Electronic brakes are a must! I only had one axle with brakes and one axle without, wish both of them had it. I also got a Prodigy brake controller. It can sense how fast you are going and how hard you brake. If you only slow down, so will it. If you slam on the brakes (not advised but it happens) so will it. Once you program it (super easy) it worked GREAT. Also has a little lever that you can slide, should you need to brake the trailer and not the truck. Used that several times. Towed with a titan. With a bigger truck I would have felt much better, especially in the mountains.

I actually rented a U-Pull (if you know who I mean) a few years ago to tow a custom truck about the size and weight of our X's. I used an old F150 to tow it about 12 hours. If you've ever towed before, its almost no different other than being slightly taller than the average trailer. I will say that an electronic brake controller made life easier going through the Appalachian Mtns. I somehow managed 9mpg, but I somehow killed the alternator.

Just use straps and tie-downs liberally. I had two straps holding it down up front and two in the rear. This prevented movement in most directions.

For the record, said company advised that I shouldn't tow the vehicle, so I may have altered the type of vehicle I was towing.

Probably want an 18' trailer so you have some room to adjust where your X is sitting if you need to. I used my 16' (14' + 2' dovetail) and it was pretty tight (could have backed up more if I took my ramps off) but I can usually get away with a bit extra tongue weight on my dodge (air bagged rear suspension) so I didn't bother.
