FEELER: DIYers - Gauging interest in offering kits

I'm here to see how much interest there would be a DIY winch carrier kit.

My kit is all 1/4", except the clevis, which is 3/4" x 8". I have this kit on my weld table, waiting for a little warmer weather so I can start assembly. It's designed to require no special tools, except a welder. The bends can be made without a press. It's CNC plasma cut and will fit Xterras and Frontiers. Some cutting of the factory bumper is required.

Please let me know what kind of questions you'd have, if it's something you'd be interested in or if I'm missing info.

If there's enough interest, I'd make and include a step by step, picture laden instruction sheet. Future plans (researching now) could include front and rear bumpers.

Let me know your thoughts!

Also for your consideration, is there interest in radiator, transfer case or fuel tank armor? Front or rear bumpers?

As I said in my previous post, all of these kits are designed to be assembled by the average Joe. You don't need a brake press. The way they are cut from the sheet makes it easier to bend. It does take some effort because it's thicker metal, but it is manageable.

Full disclosure - I did not design these kits. I purchased the files and have access to a plasma CNC table. I am checking for interest because our options are limited, shrinking and expensive. I wanted to offer something that would benefit our community, save some money and be fun to make.

Does the winch kit attach only to the frame horn face, or does it also attach underneath where the factory tow hook would attach? Hard to tell from what I can see.

This type of bracket is what you're referring to and what you want for a secure winch carrier, right @IM1RU ?
Correct. The two bolts that are underneath the frame. In order to safely pull, a bumper or winch mount must be mounted to both the face of the frame horns AND the mounts below the frame, as is shown in your picture.

I'm kind of curious what these holes are for? Do they go through the frame somewhere else besides the tow points? Also, for @HanCholo I think it would be easy to fab up two additional plates that could be welded to the bottom of the mount and that could tie into the tow points.

Edit: I just ran out to my Xterra to look, those two bottom holes are forward of the frame. Possible mounts for a skid?
