I came across a article the other day that led me to cummins sight with he news that they will be selling the r2.8 which is used in light trucks over seas with some nice numbers torque 267 lb-ft at 1.6k-3.2k and peak hp of 160 at 3.2k and only weighs 503lb. Now what I need to know is how long the vg33 the cummins is under 2 foot long and puts down better numbers than the vg33 and hopfaly much better milage.

There's a guy on here that managed to stuff a 4bt cummins in his 1st gen. It took a sas and extensive modification to the firewall to get it to fit. I'd love to see another diesel swap done. Unfortunately i don't really have an hard #s to give ya. Good luck brother. Hopefully somebody else will chime in and help ya out

It is looking like the kit will be a pretty penny but maby sticking it in a 2nd gen (my boddy is a little sad) and you would get a 6spd instead of the 5sdp in the 1st gen xterras

There a guy in Texas (James McCleave) that did a Nissan 2.8 diesel conversion to a first Gen. He has since sold it. I wheeled with him once and saw it up close; it was a slick conversion. He used to be on this forum. I'll see if I can dredge up his thread.

I had seen his build and even looked in to that engine but the number it put down weren't quite as thrilling as I wanted. The cummins is about 1.5 times the tourqe and it comes in vehicles sold in the us and Europe so parts will be easier to find. Now that said they haven come out with a price yet but it comes with all required emissions equipment. This is a project that will have to wait unfortunately untell I have a finished the rest of my school and get a real job
