Engine Noise Question

I honestly don't know if the car's always done this or if it's been a recent thing that I've noticed (by recent I mean like the past year or two).
When starting and running my 05 cold, I can hear a clicking or tapping sound from the engine area, kinda sounds like an old sewing machine. Not super loud or clunky sounding, but you can definitely hear it. Once the car warms up you can't hear a thing (maybe oil warms up and gets everything lubed up?)
Just thought I'd check in and see if this is normal with other Xterras or something I need to get looked at. Doesn't seem to affect the performance much, if at all.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the same concern, thought about oil not warming up quick enough. I've been using castrol, ordered valvoline this time to see if it's gonna make difference. Gonna be the same 5w30 but maybe it warms up quicker. I tried to keep it around 2500 and don't exceed 3000 RPM while it's making that sound. Take the long way out if I have to, I avoid getting on the highway with it. I'll report back if I notice a difference after I change the oil.

Could be the injector solenoids clicking. If it does it under load while cold, you might just need to warm the oil up a bit before driving, as it lubricates more effectively when warm.
