My yellow 2008 left rear door won't open. First it wouldn't latch. I hit the lock and unlock buttons a few times and got it to close. Now it won't open. The inner and outdoor door handles don't do anything neither the lock and unlock buttons. Any suggestions?

I'm researching the same type problem with my '07 rear hatch. It seems it is the actuator in the lock assembly that has failed quite a few folks. While shopping for parts I saw the passenger door actuators listed so it could possibly be that..

My rear door did that and a it was a Pain in the Butt to fix.. need to beat the person who designed it.. Wire hanger hook to grab the Bar.. its a bitch.. and you shall curse few new words!!.

once you get door open, two rubber grommets on inside frame near latch. Pop those out peer inside with a flashlight.. If yours is like mine, the Cable will have un hooked from the Y notch. Reason for door not to open.
Its a bugger to get that cable back on to the Y.. Long ass needle nose pliers, cat claw.. what ever means to grab that loose cable. Fat human arm will not fit inside that inner panel.

Can say, its holding up since I was able to re-attach it. Better than Factory!.
good luck

Once you get the door open, lube the cable and mechanism really well. Don't use WD40, because it gets pretty gummy over time. I lube all my locks and locking mechanisms every year or so. I use Ballistol and it works great.

My drivers door would not open at all.. Or the plastic latch on frame would stay in the open position. when yea thought door was closed making a right hand turn and door starts to swing open.. gets your attention really fast.. Or closed and can not open have to use passenger side to crawl in..

I cleaned the plastic latches, and applied lots of lube.. Good reminder.. will add another squirt..

The cable running to the Outside handle.. Has too much flex. Which does not allow the Cable end on top( blue ball) to Retract.

Zip tied the Cable to other cable that felt stiff & secure. WORKS!!!!!
(RED arrow to Zip tie, Green line is the Cable running to the Outside door handle.)

Dam thing did not held... Too cold to fix. three months later warm sunshine..

Update:
On side Frame, two rubber access grommets. Remove Bottom one. Can see a arm that holds the cable in place. ( ARM has a " Y " at the end ). Fits the collar on the White part of the cable.
Mine was OUT... dammit!!!.

Too deep to reach with Needle nose. using Flashlight, screwdriver Wiggle the cable in the door panel. THUMP back into arm's slot!!.. DONE.
works!!!. Cough for now!.

once again.. working.. Till it pops off. Just need to find Tool that will fit inside with out yanking Panel's off.
Two Beers required for Repair.. One whiskey for your Buddy that is bitching at yea To hurry up... haha
