So I don’t understand why you need 12 bolts but only 6 lock nuts? I must be missing something :wut:

EDIT: Unless that is what you are talking about with the nuts welded to the body.

You need 10 bolts for the body. 4 of them are the metric ones that you need to order. They screw into bolts welded to the body. The other 6 can use standard bolts and is also why you need to order 6 lock nuts as well.

The metric bolts I had to order was the most expensive part. Those prices look about right.

My guess is you are seeing prices for much shorter bolts. check the lengths...

OK, with planning to do a 1" BL instead of a 2", I started trying to figure out which bolts needed to be shorter, and by how much, and then my head started hurting...do each of the 12 mount bolts need to be exactly an inch shorter? If so, that's going to be awkward on metric sized bolts...for instance, what's 180 mm minus an inch, like 154.5 mm? Maybe I'll just do the 2"...although I'm still short the two 180mm 10.9 hex bolts

So I found my M12-1.25 180mm bolts for the DIY BL...10 bucks apiece plus nine bucks shipping. Ouch. 30 bucks total. Metric Specialties, Inc., out of Santa Clarita CA. I guess the new cost for the DIY BL parts is about 100 bucks...still way cheaper than ordering the BL package.

Ok so I need to order 2 of the 12mm-1.25 X 180 Hex Bolts Part # 70333. I only see that one offered as high as 160 not 180. Is it suppose to be 160 and the 180 is a typo?

See Drb's original post. there are lengths for each one.

I don't think 180 mm is a typo, but I will say it was waaaaay too long for my 1" BL. I ended up putting a pretty big spacer for now, until i can get a 1.25 160 mm to replace it. I'll go take a pic and post here in a sec.

Update with pic. These bolts are the farthest back at the rear

Just remember, youre better off throwing on an xtra washer or two than having a too short bolt. MAYBE 160 will work, maybe not

Again, my lift was 1" not 2", 160 mm is .8" shorter than 180 mm, and i def had more extra length than that.

Sent from my brain using technology

[edit: this is the 12 mm 1.25 x 180 mm bolt. 160 would have worked for me on my 1" for sure. again, not sure about the 2", but as you can see I had more than an inch extra, which in the case of a 2" lift would be what extra washers are for]

^^^as many of us have discovered, they don't sell the 180 mm length. you're going to have to go somewhere else. I ordered mine from Metric Specialties in california. 10 bucks apiece plus 10 bucks shipping. metricspecialties.com

So before this weekend I decided to double check my parts. I bought some from a guy on the forum and same online. I feel like something is missing or wrong. I have the pucks, but as far a bolts/washers/nuts does this look right?

If not I need to next day air some stuff

You might want to get some more washers, just in case, and if you're going to keep your DS safety loop you're going to need some spacers. other than that, that looks like the lineup you need...

Dont think it matters, although I cant tell from the pic if the ones you have are long enough to fit a 2" spacer between the head and the nut (which is part of the body). Also, the partial thread bolts do better with spacers (which fit better over non-thread portion). See Snickerdoodle's thread about removing the safety strap for a visual.

My advice is take the safety loop off first, then do your lift, and see whether it fits back on with what you have. If not, go to the store and get a couple longer M12 1.25 coarse thread bolts

Excuse the stupidness here while I'm trying to learn. So the 10 longer bolt are for when the pucks are inserted. 10 pucks 10 bolts? The two shorter bolts are for safety loop?

^^^^exactly. Two longest black bolts are the two mounts farthest back on the truck, they go into nuts welded into the frame. Same goes for the other two shorter, thinner bolts, which go in under the truck approximately halfway between the front and rear wheels. The remaining six take the nuts on top of them.

Something else I never thought of. I have the relocation brackets for the front. What is used for the rear?

SO, I was using this as a guide for buying my bolts, and I wasn't able to get two of the bolt sizes from Allensfasteners.com.
I went to FASTENAL.com and found everything there.

Thought I would make an updated parts list and prices incase anyone else runs into the same issue I had...

Does anybody have a source that actually has all of the necessary hardware? I'm having a heck of time finding this stuff in stock anywhere.

The 180mm. And I think the 160mm was out of stock too unless I go with class 8.8. Mainly needing the 180mm though.

Go with the 8.8... All the others are rated at 8 grade I think anyways

I went to Fastenal and ordered all my bolts. I took like a week for the 160mm and 180mm to come in. He had a hard time finding me some also, but they all finally came in.

Well I tried that and they told me 4-6 weeks. I'd like to have this done before the last week if July because we are taking a vacation and driving the X to Colorado. As it is now, the front right tire rubs if I hit a bump. I'm hoping some new shocks might help to alleviate that though.
