I'm all for tats but my dad told me this story of a girl who wanted one for her 18th birthday. Her dad told her this. He would take her to her favorite jewelry store and buy her anything she wanted but she had to wear it every single day for the rest of her life. Never taking it off. She said he was crazy, but that's the reality of a tattoo

Well said. I like my removable decals on the Xterra, that's my canvas.

Hahaha, now that's funny. Good call. Yeah, tats are not for everyone. And let's face it, some people that have them really should not, too, haha! Each to their own. :)

These are random now, but will eventually turn into a lot. I am in the navy and get tattoos to resemble places i have been or of actual navy meanings.

I also have two swallows blue and red alternating colors of wings and chest on my upper chest near collar bones, and a big nautical star on my left ribcage.

Once i make my next rank ill be getting my full right forearm. Eventually my full right sleeve will be dedicated to only navy type items. Old sailing ship, anchor, dog tags with date i enlisted and date i retire... etc.

Looking good! Question for those who have color tats- how long has your color lasted before needing a touch-up?

I think if it's done well a decade or more can pass before it's gotta be redone....the deciding factor's usually your body though...

true. also how much sun your getting on that tattoo. if you fake and bake. skin pigmentation, acceptance of the ink from your body, the tattoo artist himself if he sets the ink good. number of things when it comes to ink in the body. just keep an eye on it you will know when its your time for a touch up.

Makes sense. I'm planning on getting a bracelet tattoo to replace my medic alert bracelet that keeps breaking and didnt want it to eventually look like poop in such an obvious place.

Colors fade depending on, the color, sun abuse, your skin, quality of the ink. At least that is what I have been told by a few arrests. All of them agreed that green fades the fastest.

Koa tree, native to Hawaii, also means "brave warrior" in Hawaiian. My nephew is named Koa, and he's the first and only niece/nephew I have.

Finally got my medic alert tattoo. I've always had bracelets, but they kept breaking, esp at inconvienent moments, I.e. basketball court or in lemur enclosure while I'm cleaning it. I researched medic alert tattoos for a while and talked to emergency personnel and doctors about it. Surprisingly, most were not familiar with them. Guess I'm paving the way for future medic alert tattoo'd peeps. :)

Back piece in progress. Have another session in a couple weeks. A lot more detail needs done and obviously more background.

I also have ones on each shoulder I'll post another time. It's hard to take a good pic of your own shoulder. Haha.
