You did point it out Rok, but for some reason it never really sank in because I thought I was seeing the same pack on stock rigs.

I got the wheels from Dave after he went to the big leagues. I still love them just as much as I did the first day I got them

Been a little while since I've done an update. I performed some regular maintenance and going to do the all-encompassing timing belt replacement in a couple weeks (finally, so I can shut up about it).

I also realized that I did a horrible job at prepping and painting my plastics with Rustoleum bed liner. All of it practically came off when I used a power washer. However, I have learned from my mistakes and have now come across Dupli-Color bumper and trim paint. It comes out as a smooth textured flat black which is so far holding up really well as is MUCH easier to clean than that bedliner crap. I am going to finish doing the front bumper and back corners before snapping a few pictures to show the results.

Entire fluid drain and fill is also in the immediate future, hopefully at the same time when I take it in for the timing belt change. Lastly, I am going to invest in a really good outside detail to see if I can knock out some trail scratches and general paint defects. I have extremely high hopes for it!

And if you're still reading this far, enjoy a current picture of the newly dubbed OnyXterra. My rig is black, has bands of red thrown in, and onyx is just an awesome word to say with an 'x' in it. Possibly going to have a vanity plate made with ONYXTRA.

I'm seriously the only Nissan that goes out to those things. It was supposed to be a Jemez run on some forest service roads but the trail was closed. Being determined though, I branched off with a couple other rigs into a pretty gnarly trail. I would've pressed on, but we had a newer Tundra in our group and it was too wide to make it through. I think a Puerco run is going to be organized in a couple weeks if you'll be up for it.

Rig's looking good! Let me know when the next run is...I need to knock the rust off.

Will do sir! I'm still itching to wheel with another Xterra. The guy that organizes these tries to do a different quadrant of the surrounding Albuquerque area each time. I think next up is a southwest run, but it could be another Cedro run too

Hope it's something more interesting than Cedro...but let me know

Thanks for the kind words! I want to get every mechanical thing to 100%, so headers and exhaust would round that part out, along with drilled and slotted front rotors. After that, I definitely want to get sliders and skids on it. Then, I'd love to have the front and rear locked with a good on board air system to run them and fill up tires if need be. An aftermarket front bumper is also high on the list.

Somewhere tossed in among all those things would also be a blue sea fuse block and some LED lights. And convert all my lights to LED lol.

Things always tend to move around on the priority list, and things I didn't know I wanted suddenly pop up. For example, a Pathfinder transfer case was not something I was even looking for, but a local one popped up for a decent price and I might just get it. It's all a labor of love, and I'm loving every minute of it.

May 1st... Complete service is scheduled... Timing belt kit installation, trans drain and fill, transfer case drain and fill, front and rear diff drain and fill... I can't wait to finally get all this done.

It's the final countdown to May Day...

Got my rig back home. Turns out the timing belt was replaced probably around 100k, but the tensioner was pretty messed up along with the thermostat oddly enough. Also, the water pump was showing some age. All the other drive belts were damn near torn up, so I'm very relieved to have those replaced. Overall, I'm glad I went ahead and bought the kit and had it installed proactively rather than reactively for the peace of mind. I also had him do a drain and fill on the transmission.

Next week I'll crawl under there to drain and fill both diffs along with the transfer case. Then brakes hopefully by June along with Rugged Rocks motor mounts, and headers maybe August-ish.

Formerly Johnny 5 Auto, now called Dox Auto Repair. They're great dudes, very fair and honest, and charge very fair on labor. It's good to have a trustworthy mechanic lol

^So much this. When you can have your truck towed somewhere when you're 300 miles away and ALL they have to do is replace a bad clamp... I send everyone there I can.

Installed the rear 5125's last night. After I figured out the fitment issue, it went super quick. The ride quality is a night and day difference, and I'm really excited to have them on there.

Tonight, I'm doing the front and rear diff fluid change, along with the transfer case. I got a bottle bump to get the new fluid in, and I also got a fluid-extracting pump to get the old stuff out.

Edit: I installed the incorrect extended and compressed length shocks. They were removed and a week later, brand new correct-sized ones were installed.

Put on the proper length shocks last night, and the extra couple of inches in the new shocks made installing them a bit more fun. I had to position myself just right to basically bench press the damn thing to compress it enough.

Got some pictures of my most recent New MeXterra Meal-N-Wheel event! We had a couple of rigs drive up from El Paso for the day and a couple of familiar faces returning. Overall it was a really good time, and I was surprised yet again at the capabilities my Xterra has. I also nerded out a bit from finally getting to wheel with a handful of other Nissan's!

Goodies are in the mail and will arrive on Friday. With my upcoming month off from work, I'm looking at a few fun days of installing things. Pictures will be up soon afterwards.

Hahaha, I did just realize that I have none of our 2 trusty co-pilots!

Here is Jojo, she's 6 years old and is half Corgi half Basset. She runs the show and our other dog definitely knows it. My wife got her about 5 years ago and was an only dog for about 4 years.

Here is Megatron, he's about to be 1 year old and is half German Shepherd and half Rottweiler. He's a very good boy and a perfect dog for us.

Isn't it funny how dominance works out with the dogs? Nothing to do with size, it's all respect. Bassett/Corgi, what a mix! From the shaved picture, I take it Jojo gets fluffy like a corgi? That's a perfect mix of german shep/rott, I can see strong features from both. Thanks for sharing - I like seeing other's pets.

She gets all the Corgi layers of hair, but it grows in like a bassett so it comes in flat. Her amount of shedding gets rediculous and it always seems endless lol. We're thinking Megatron is going to get shaved next year too

Gah, I haven't updated this thing in a hot minute!

Let's see.... About 2 months ago I took apart my leaf packs and installed 2 new leaves on each side. I still want new Alcan's sometime soon but this will at least get me by for a while. I still have my revolver shackles I need to install, but I'm waiting to get the extended brake lines for the rear and a place I can go to and use a lift to figure out easily what I'll need to fab up for the new flex distance.

I scored a sweet deal on a used trans/transfer case skid plate which should get here tomorrow. I'll prep and re-paint it red I think and happily throw it on promptly. After realizing that I have progressed out of casual-ish trail running to wanting to do more of crawling and harder obstacles from attending a large off-road event, truck protection has moved up to high priority.

I haven't added any pictures in a while, so here is a whole ton of new ones! Some are from the 25th Annual Chili Challenge Run I did with a different forum member and the rest are from this past weekend going up to Mt. Taylor with a couple different forum members too.

D'oh, no, I meant Trans/Transfer Case skidplate.

I'd like to get an engine one soon because I somehow managed to only "gently" scrape my oil pan from the Chili Challenge. Could've been a lot worse....

Thanks man! Sometimes I have no other choice but to go out with the jeeps, but I think I finally found a good few local Xterras to go out with regularly
