That thing looks ufcking stout! I'm excited to see the install. The best part will be getting rid of the plastic upper and lower caps.

Its got a little heft to it too, I mainly purchased because I wanted to get rid of those points of failure while having a slight upgrade to the cooling system... plus I think I will be the only person to have done this. #pioneeringorsomethinglikethat

Interesting idea...but I like it. Hopefully it fits in as easily as expected, that'd be cool and I'm sure a lot more would start popping up with r34 radiators

Results are in, and so is the R34 Radiator! It fits

So tonight I got home from work and decided that I wasnt going to wait any longer and that I needed to get the answers.

After 15minutes of idling in 75* ambient temp this was the results. 169-170* is quite a bit lower than the 185-190* I was seeing yesterday at idle. I will have a more definitive answer tomorrow as I will be driving to and from job site.

Alright today I decided to tackle the upper radiator mount.

Started with a 28x6" piece of aluminum diamond plate. I then trimmed it into a trapazoid shape with the rear of the plate being 26" and the front staying at 28". I then drilled the holes for the radiator pins. I also slotted out around where the radiator cap and neck would go.

I then threaded the top pin with a 3/8" NF die as far as I could down.

I then made 4x rubber washers that are 1.25" width 3/8" center to fit over the pin. I also cut the slot for the upper hose inlet to fit through the plate.

I then figured out where I needed to drill the front holes to fit the 2 small 1/4" bolts that stick up through the upper radiator support. I contoured the corners so there were no sharp angles to snag or cut myself on. I also drilled a hole for the hood rod clip to fit through

Here is the finished product.

All in all, it is a fairly clean install, however I was working with limited time to finish this plate. I will be doing a full writeup for the radiator in the near future as well

I added another Torqflo Trans oil cooler. Hopefully this will be close if not better than the OEM transcooler + Torqflo setup I was running previous to the radiator swap.

While Darude was off playing on some sweet jumps this weekend I went out of my way to do a few personal things....

Just gonna leave this super blurry picture here... take your guess as to what it is.

Also I got put to work building another set of sliders for a friend of mine this weekend and his sweet 87 2dr Pathy with 94 engine and dash.

They pass the jack test at least

Looks like a (solid) axle tube, dented brake dust shield, caliper, and disc brake with some mud caked around it. SAS coming soon?

Well I purchased these seat covers off of Casey Cambey a few weeks ago and have had them on the truck a week now. I really like them.

I also ordered the same key fob that Darude had used and after 4 days of fighting with it I FINALLY got it to work with my truck. Apparently I needed to undo the battery cables and then put them back on. It works so whatevs. Now to get it cut.

A quick word about living with that fob. The buttons are super sensitive. I often lock or set off the alarm by bending over or climbing into the truck.

I have actually noticed this already. I typically leave my keys in the ignition at work (bad habit) so I dont have to worry about this that much, but might be an issue with other things

The thing that happens all the time is when my oldest climbs into my lap on the couch. Next thing I know my horn is blaring out in the driveway.

Today I went and actually wheeled in Blackhills South Dakota with a member of the local 4x4 club here in my town. I have never actually been on any of the stuff we did today and opted to let a buddy of mine drive my rig and experience it. He has never sat behind the wheel of a 4wd rig on a trail, and he was effectively an offroad virgin. He learned alot, beat on my rig a bit, and got out alive and with no broken parts. I call that a success!

After we got off the trail we were all pretty hungry and decided a cold beer at the nearby brewery and a burger from the local grill would be our next choice. Miner Brewery in Hill City,SD was awesome and have some great brews, and to make it even better theres a winery right next door. Obviously we had to check that out. Unfortunately I still had to drive the 100 miles home so I grabbed a bottle of peach mead from Prairie Berry Winery and headed out the door. After we were fueled up with food we split up for the day and I took my buddy to see Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. I live an hour away and this was my first time seeing them.

Well not really a whole lot going on with my X lately. I did make a trip to Denver to pick up a sweet vintage Honda motorcycle for an easy winter project. Managed to fit the bike in the Xterra along with all my trail gear and parts. I will be making another trip down there on friday for some wheeling with the NORAC crew so expect pictures!
