Computer Builds

So after not having to pay for computers for years because of sponsorships, I finally need to build a new pc for the girl and I also looking to get back into the loop with them. Looking for this to do some fps gaming, Hd streaming, small website creations, rendering and other larger programs. I also want dual screen for my tv and monitor usage. So major multitasking. this is what In mind for parts so far. Open to suggestions and etc. Been out of the loop with pc's for. Couple years me.
I'm a big Asus and Msi fan so majority of my parts I liked to stay with those.

Asus z79 mobo
12gb ram corsair most likely or some other new brand I was reading about.
256 ssd
750watt ps
Either some nvidia, evga, Asus vCard 2gb haven't decided on which yet so open for suggestions.
Intel quad core running around 3.5+ either I5 or I7 open on that too.
Still if keyboards and mice for days, along with monitors.

Thanks In advance!!

What's your budget?

Go with an i7 but just make sure your board has the proper socket for the one you choose. i7 has like 3 different sockets depending on the generation you get. If you want a video card you can throw just about anything at, nVidia gtx780 is one of the top performers right now. I'm still running my radeon hd7970ghz edition and that still knocks out everything on high/ultra settings and you can probably get one pretty cheap these days since I got it new back in 2012. As for the PSU I always recommend going higher on the wattage bc you really can never have too much, it simply won't get used. What case are you going to throw everything into?

I like where you're going with those specs. Definitely the i7 with what you want to do. As for the memory, moar is better, but 12GB should be a good starting point. Do check the mother board's documents as it will say what memory is good to use with it. If you choose to not follow their suggestions, you'll probably have issues.

Don't really have a budget I mean I don't want to drop 2k lol putting it in a apevia mid tower, yes I'd start with 12gbs but not sure I would actually need more. It's like hp you can have a ton but how often. do yo you use it. Yes I plan on an I7 but only thinking one vCard not sure I really need two since you can run a tv and monitor off one vCard. I'll look into those cards though thanks for the suggestions. Seems like those change the most and are always harder to pick out. Forgot to add I have a tb external Hd I use for off computer stuff so that's why the size off the ssd isn't the largest I'm really just using it for programs and the ssd speed itself

Are you planning on getting a better cpu cooler or using the stock one? I typically end up overclocking so I always make sure to get better fans in my cases and coolers.

Josh you can always hit me up. I build a new pc every 2-3 years from top to bottom. I'm a little behind this year because my current setup has yet to hit anything it can't run so I figured put the money into the X.

Editing the video from went has really made me realize I need a real computer. The junk laptop I bought worked great for school but it is lacking. I have always preferred iMac's but the one I want is $1700. I may have to hit you up Rob. If I can build one comparable for less I will, I just don't know anything.

I dropped Chris a list of components that ended up around 2200 but it will smoke anything he throws at it. Told hime we can alwasy reconfig gpu and memory if he wants to save some bucks. Also psu was probably overkill but I usually wait for deals like black friday.

When I built mine, I used Newegg to find the parts and then back and forth between them and Amazon to find the best deals. I found a $300 monitor for $120 shipped. Additionally, my motherboard came with free RAM (ASRock).

GTX 970/980 available, 4GB vram and performance of a 780/780 ti for less, and more vram helps at higher resolutions

If any of you guys want to get rid of your "old" rigs for a good price, I might be game. I've been in the market for one for a while but don't have $1000 to drop on a new one

I'm right around the corner and can do it for you. Lemme know what you want, you can order the parts, and I'll assemble and load whatever.

i7 3.2
Asus Rampage III Formula
6GB
1TB WD Black 6GB/s
nVidia 8800 GTX
6 custom modded blue/green 120mm fans w/ Zalman fan controller
Blacked out case interior

Damn thing sounds like a jet engine.

Yes, I know the video card is dated compared to the rest of the system. But its still badass and I haven't had trouble running anything.

Only need one HDD. I have a DROBO with 10tb in it on my network. This PC is for gaming only.

Also, those cables are more USB headers.

I have music and a full system backup on the 1, and the other is all my digital media including blu ray rips. It was originally purchased to house all of my blu ray rips, but my blu ray collection grew faster than I could rip them and I just kinda got lazy and stopped ripping.

I've got about 7TB full right now. Several hundred movies (all 720/1080 mkv files with DTS audio), about 100 different TV shows all HD of course, and over 30k audio tracks.

I don't really have Drobo money either, but the enclosure was on sale for $250 and I've slowly put larger and larger hard drives in as money has allowed.

Here it is!

Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 15"
2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with 6MB L3 cache
16GB of Kingston HyperX RAM - DDR3L 1600 MHz CL9
128GB SSD as primary drive, DVD drive removed for a 750GB hard drive (eventually I'll have two, 1TB SSD's for each drive)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M w/ 1GB of GDDR5 dedicated memory and board-standard Intel HD Graphics 4000 w/ 1.5GB dedicated memory

As you can see in the pictures, I am meticulous about keeping my MBP clean. I have never owned this nice of a computer in my entire life, as my last gaming PC was a Frankenstein of parts and assembly methods that was 11 years old. I know my MBP is not a beast or a "gaming rig" as far as metrics go, but it handles what I do flawlessly and still posts respectable scores in Cinebench and Geekbench. Eventually I'll build a gaming PC as time and money permits in the future, but for now I am very happy with this.
