Let there be many Spider-Man spoilers in this post!



Saw Spider-Man 2 last night. It was OK. It wasn't epic, but it was OK. Teenage Goblin was kind of dumb. And he had no real motivation other than just being a dick. Electro turned out as a much better villain than I thought he would. Mechanical Rhino. Well.... It is what it is.

I was glad they actually killed Gwen. There was a while there when I didn't think they would. Her death is important to the development of the character.

Next, wtf was up with the stinger at the credits? A cut of Days of Future Past? Seriously? We get the insight that Mystique is building her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants because Magneto is incarcerated. But why that was in the spiderman credits is beyond me.

I would have rather seen a cut of the Sinister Six, but whatever.

Also, speaking of Days of Future Past, there was a much longer preview for it. In which we see Quicksilver. Who was also at the end of Winter Soldier. I understand that the Avengers/Captain America/Iron Man universe is a seperate one from the X-Men and Spider-Man universes. But how'd they manage to broker that deal to have the same character in both movies. I mean they could have at least been played by the same actor. Heh.

I thought Spiderman was good. Better than the Raimi movies imo. I do agree that Goblin was too emo for me and just kinda stupid. Jamie Foxx actually did a good Electro. My thing about Rhino that frustrated me was the suit, really mechanical? I would have rather seen the actual rhino suit where he's bonded with the rhino skin. I read that the x-men clip was a nod to someone who was helping with the movie but then left and then had a big part of the xmen movie so it was kind of a nod to him.
The quicksilver thing... I think marvel found a loophole to use him and scarlet witch, but they can't refer to them as mutants or that magneto is their father but I don't think they are his kids in DOFP. In fact they (marvel studios) isn't allowed to say mutants at all. I think it's funny that both quicksilver characters are from Kick Ass.

Can we talk about X-Men yet?

I thought it was well done. Hit some of the key points regarding the Days of Future Past issue. The important things, everybody dies, Trask is defeated, no sentinels. HOWEVER!

I think this will be the last movie where we see Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, et al as the X-Men. Because age. They're all so old! Heh.

Also, they cannot bring back Jean Grey just for poopoos and hahas!

It's. About. Fing. Time.

The next movie will have Apocalypse!

Again I say, HOWEVER

It will essentially be a sequel of this movie in he 70s timeline.

Cmon jay you know better than that. He's actually a powerful character. Almost as strong and durable as Superman. The new 52 comics have actually made him into a great character. He's completely underrated

As far as I'm concerned, he's underrated for a reason. But I also despise superman. Maybe it's a DC thing. Though Batman is chief.

True. Bringing Ultron into A2 requires some space stuff. We saw a glimpse of that in the 1st Avengers, but that was also interdimensional.

I enjoyed GoTG. Seems like it was a prequel to the 2008 comic. I forsee a mashup of them and the avengers after age of ultron. A full Thanos infinity gauntlet war. Which sucks because we can't have the X-Men involved.

Maybe they'll get things worked out by then. It would be mutually beneficial.

Jay: they are already talking about a team up. It's terrible that they can't involve the x-men which leaves out the shiaar.
They just released a statement saying there will be no Howard the duck remake, it was just a nod because the creators of Howard also created GOTG

It would cost them a crazy figure.. Sadly they sold off all the movie rights in the 80s and 90s.. But if a studio doesn't do something with the property marvel can gain them back.. This is why Sony has been pushing for a Spider-Man reboot and why the 3rd rami movie was a jumbled mess.. Fox is in the same mess.. Ff4 reboots.. Look for this new reboot to be a major turd.. But it keeps the property with them longer..
I may get killed for saying this but xmen is full of issues too.. The first one was ok but it launched the comic thing.. I enjoyed 1st class and sorta this last one but it's so full of holes and poor casting..

I think there is something to these rumors of sony allowing marvel to clean up the spidey mess

I agree Dave. The x-men movies are full of holes and could have been done much better. My main gripe... Beast. What the hell was that? They ruined a great character

You have to realize that DOFP was to establish the transition between old actors and new ones. Because of this, I don't think we'll ever see Patrick Stewart or Hugh Jackman in an X-Men movie ever again.

Yeah I read that today..
I'm not sure with all the cool story lines they have to work with, why do they want to go down the kill capt off?

The only thing I can gather is you have a 15 year window with the actors and they either you start over or replace them..
And I'm not opposed to replacing them vs starting over.. It would be like a new artist in comics taking over..
We have seen what a mess the spider man movies are when you force a new look and reboot.
