Clutch Pedal Return Spring Broke; Xterra 2003

I have a 2003 Xterra (4w / 3.3 / xe / v6) and the clutch pedal return spring just broke. This happened many years ago as well and it's my understanding that it's ok to drive it as long as I pull the pedal back up with my foot; please correct me if I'm wrong! Nissan no longer makes the part and suggested I check out forums to guide me. I'm looking for a replacement (465714S100) and can't find it; admittedly, I'm not a car person so I don't know the best places to look. I have the part but don't know how much of it broke off, so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I can't find even a pic of it. It was a rainy day so I don't know if the fluid on the mat was rain or not. I may need to fix it myself, so I'm also looking for a vid or directions to fix it. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

This kinda shows where that spring is. And you are sure its spring? Its not the clutch slave/master? When that fails that pedal will fall as well. but wont have any pressure when you push it. Can you push it back up where it is suppose to be an it stay? Can you elaborate some?

Also there are other models that have a similar spring, you can get a deal on those on eBay.

The spring that broke definitely doesn't look like that. I've attached a pic of it. I can engage the clutch just fine and it changes gears, no issues. The pedal doesn't came back up as the spring that was attached to it and wherever the other end attaches to obviously is no more. The pedal comes back up just a little on it's own. Then I need to pull it back into it's intended position with my foot. Repeat with no issues.

Okay weird. Thats a pretty light weight spring for that clutch pedal. I have almost always had a manual transmission Xterra (much like @Prime our fearless leader, and I've never seen that spring.

Pardon my crudity, but here are some used clutch pedal assembly pics off ebay that I just swiped. you can see where the return spring for the clutch pedal is on it. (Brake pedal assembly for reference) Wonder if someone rigged something on yours? Maybe I'm not as smart as I thought.

Can you look under your dash and see if your big spring is missing, or broken or slipped out of place too?

I looked and that spring in the image you shared is in tact and working order. I also checked the fluid and it's full without leaks of any kind. The spring that I posted was the very same one that broke years ago. So I know it's the original type to the car. I know where it affixes to the pedal; a very small hole. I just can't find where the other end affixes to.

I went to an auto store and got a spring for it. My housemate installed it in 5 seconds. So I'm good to go! Thank you so much for your assistance!!!
