Figure I would post this thread for anybody that climbs or is wanting to get into climbing. Plus I just wanna see what other gear people use and their reviews on it. Anybody that is wanting to get into climbing though should go to their local store and ask tons of questions or go to a local gym. I use rock creek outfitters to pick up most of my gear.

My climbing gear
1. Black Diamon Momentum Harness SA

2. Black Diamond magnetron carabiner

3. La Sportiva Katana Climbing shoes

4. Black Diamond Guide ATC

5. Black Diamond Vaporlock screwgate

6. Mammut Impact chalk bag

* Rock creek usually runs some awesome deals on their gear if you catch it at the right time

BD guide atc: works great I actually a couple of them.

My climbing shoes are Evolv climbing shoes, they seem to fit the best and last the longest.

My harness is a Metolious safe tech, I've owned a dozen harnesses and I will never buy anything other than the Metolious harness again.

Ya I really like that black diamond guide atc. I've looked at swapping to a grigri 2. Might get a grigri once I start lead climbing. But for now the atc works fine with top roping.

Neat thread. I haven't been climbing in a long time.

Though I still have all my gear. Arcteryx harness, rescue 8, repelling knuckle, a load a biners, chalk bag, etc.

I need to get off my fat ass and go again.

I have a grigri and love them for lead climbing, once I broke down and got one that's all I use now. It's well worth it!

Mainly a boulderer in the gym here but haven't been doing it as much as I'd like.

I rock the La Sportiva Solutions but also have the Pythons.

When I was climbing a lot I was projecting v6/6+ problems. Hardest route in the gym was a 5.9

Major props for pulling a v6+... I dont spend awhole lot of timing bouldering, cause it stays pretty crowded at the local gym lol... I been sending 5.10a's pretty easy here lately. Even got a 5.10c the other night... Im hoing to be comfortable on 5.11s before I signup for the lead climbing class

I seen today where chatt town is getting another gym. That'll be 3 we have here in the scenic city

TBA- Tennessee Bouldering Authority
UR- Urban Rocks
Highpoint climbing and fitness center (opening August 2013)

* I just learned something looking up that new gym lol, Rock Creek Is based in Chattanooga

LOL

The last time I was rock climbing was back in the 1970's...and we had webbing we made slings with, rope, carabiners, pitons and hammers...I can't remember any brands, that was a long time ago. I would have started rock climbing earlier...but they were still too hot, and hadn't really hardened yet.

:D

I just watched a vid of a "V6", but it was on a wall in a building that had hand/foot holds all over it...so I have no clue what you guys are doing anymore...it might as well be a ladder.

What happened to jamming your hand into a crevice and making a fist, and then hanging by your fist? (Etc?) Does that still happen, or are climbs now only where someone glued ladder rungs to, etc?

:lolz:

TJ, I would say that still happens. In some places. But I agree with you. The whole rock gym stuff is dumb. Do it for real or don't do it.
